  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Back to full speed

Elliss (hamstring) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Elliss is expected to return to the lineup after missing the last two games. The second-year linebacker has yet to play more than 50 percent of the defensive snaps in a game this season. He has produced 14 tackles (11 solo), 1.0 sacks and a pass breakup through eight games.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Won't face Commanders

Elliss (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Elliss has battled separate injuries of late, and he'll now miss his second straight game with the hamstring issue. Que Robinson should see an increased role in Elliss's absence.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Questionable for SNF

Elliss (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Commanders. Elliss was unable to practice in any capacity before being inactive for the Broncos' Week 11 victory over the Chiefs, so the outside linebacker stringing together limited sessions is a significant improvement. It remains to be seen if a limited week is enough to give the 22-year-old the green light, but if he is unable to go, Que Robinson may be in line for a larger rotational workload.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Won't play vs. Kansas City

Elliss (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Elliss sustained a hamstring injury during the Broncos' Week 10 win over the Raiders. He was unable to practice this past week, and the second-year linebacker will be sidelined for Sunday's AFC West tilt. Dondrea Tillman and rookie fourth-rounder Que Robinson will serve as the Broncos' rotational outside linebackers behind Jonathan Cooper and Nik Bonitto in Elliss's absence.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Won't face Giants

Elliss (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants. Elliss was sidelined for Denver's Week 6 win over the Jets and failed to practice in any capacity this week. He'll miss his second consecutive game, and it appears his absence could extend beyond Week 7.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Elliss (shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday's practice. Elliss's injury designation for Wednesday's practice was for just a shoulder injury, which indicates the 2024 third-rounder is past a rib issue that he picked up during the Broncos' Week 5 win over the Eagles. He'll have two more opportunities this week to practice in at least a limited capacity, which would give him a chance at being cleared to play against the Giants on Sunday.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Sits out another practice

Ellis (ribs/shoulder) is not participating in Thursday's practice, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Elliss has now missed back-to-back practices, so it seems like he's facing long odds to be ready for Sunday's game against the Jets in London. For any chance at being cleared to play Week 6, the second-year pro will need to get back on the practice field as at least a limited participant Friday.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Practicing to begin camp

Elliss was practicing with the Broncos on Wednesday to begin training camp, Jon Heath of Broncos Wire reports. Elliss suffered a fractured scapula in Denver's wild-card loss to the Bills to conclude the 2024 campaign. The issue wasn't expected to impact his 2025 season, and that now seems to be confirmed given his activity at the start of training camp.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Dealing with fractured scapula bone

Elliss's father said Friday that Elliss fractured the scapula bone in his right shoulder in Sunday's wild-card loss to Buffalo but will likely be ready for offseason drills in April, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports. Luther Elliss, Jonah's father, likely has more insight into football injuries than most since he was a defensive tackle in the NFL for 10 seasons from 1995 to 2004. The elder Elliss said of his son's injury that "it's just a broken bone" and suggested that the recovery timeline will be "six weeks." Luther Elliss also stated that Jonah's current injury isn't related to the torn right labrum he suffered in 2023 while playing in college for Utah, per Tomasson.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Exits game due to shoulder injury

Elliss (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's AFC wild-card game against the Bills, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. Elliss injured his right shoulder in the first half of Sunday's game, and he was seen headed to the locker room holding his arm, per Mike Klis of 9news.com. Dondrea Tillman will serve as the Broncos' primary edge rushing backup behind Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto for as long as Elliss is out of the game.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Recovered from shoulder injury

Elliss (shoulder) has been an active participant at the Broncos' training camp, Aric DiLalla of the team's official website reports. Elliss has fully recovered from the surgery he underwent to address a torn shoulder labrum last season. The 21-year-old appears to be set to operate as a primary reserve option behind Jonathan Cooper at weakside linebacker on Denver's defense in 2024.

  • Broncos' Jonah Elliss: Picked by Denver in third round

The Broncos selected Elliss in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 76th overall. The son of former standout NFL defensive tackle Luther Elliss, Jonah is much smaller at 6-foot-2, 248 pounds and will therefore look more like an edge-rushing specialist in the NFL. Elliss' production at Utah implies the presence of a standout skill set, because he just turned 21 in April yet produced 12.0 sacks and 16 tackles for loss in just 10 games last year. Unfortunately, he was unable to do much pre-draft athletic testing as he recovered from a torn shoulder labrum.
