  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Week 5 Waiver Priority List

Bagent will start in Week 5 at Green Bay, and he should be added in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues for at least 10 percent of your remaining FAAB. We don't know when Caleb Williams (hamstring) will return for the Bears, and Bagent can be an emergency Fantasy starter if needed. He didn't have a great game in Week 4 against the Jets with 8.8 Fantasy points, and the Packers aren't an easy matchup. But with injuries and two teams on a bye, Fantasy managers might need to start Bagent in deeper formats.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Remaining starter for Week 5

Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that Bagent will start Sunday's game against the Packers in Green Bay, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports. Bagent will direct the Chicago offense for a second straight week after he guided the Bears to a comfortable 23-12 win over the Jets on Sunday. The Bears dominated time of possession (42:45 to 17:15) in the victory, with Bagent completing 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards and an interception while leaning heavily on the ground attack to churn out a franchise-record 34 first downs. Bagent's upcoming start against the Packers could be his last before shifting to a backup role, as Caleb Williams may be ready to return from his Grade 2 hamstring strain for the Bears' Week 6 matchup with the Falcons.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: No TDs in Week 4 win

Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 23-12 win over the Jets. He also rushed four times for one yard. After watching Case Keenum beat the Eagles in Week 3 following Caleb Williams' Week 2 hamstring injury, Bagent made his first start since his rookie campaign in 2023. Bagent had three would-be interceptions erased by penalties but threw one that counted in the second quarter, marking the first regular-season interception for the Jets defense since Week 18 of the 2024 season. The Bears rode their running game and defense to a second consecutive win in Williams' absence while Bagent managed to keep the offense on schedule. If Williams isn't ready to return in Week 5, Bagent would presumably get the starting nod against the NFC North rival Packers at Lambeau Field.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Expected to start Sunday

Bagent is expected to start Sunday versus the Jets after getting first-team reps in practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. However, coach Ben Johnson has not yet confirmed the plan. Bagent was the backup to Case Keenum in Week 3 against Philadelphia with Caleb Williams (hamstring) sidelined due to a hamstring injury. That arrangement likely had something to do with Bagent coming off a concussion, which resulted in Keenum handling much of the first-team reps in practice during the week. It appeared Keenum may have seized the starting job for Week 4 (with Williams still out of action) after leading Chicago to a win against the Eagles while throwing for 247 yards and two touchdowns, but Bagent's work with the first team this week during practice suggests the script is flipping again. With that said, Johnson has refused so far to announce a Week 4 starter at QB, so it can't yet be said for certain what roles Keenum and Bagent will have this weekend.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Sticking in backup role for Week 3

Bagent (concussion) is expected to remain the Bears' backup quarterback for Monday's game against the Eagles, while Case Keenum starts in place of the injured Caleb Williams (hamstring), Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Bears' No. 2 quarterback for the first two games of the season, Bagent was initially lined up to start against the Eagles after Williams sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in the Week 2 loss to the Vikings. However, after emerging from the Vikings game with a concussion, Bagent missed the first two practices of Week 3, resulting in Keenum taking all the reps with the first-team offense. Bagent returned to practice Saturday as a limited participant and had his questionable designation removed Sunday upon clearing the five-step concussion protocol, but because of his lack of prep time this week, the Bears will keep him in the backup role. Keenum will thus pick up his first start since the 2023 season, but barring a strong performance against a stout Eagles defense, the Bears would likely go with Bagent as their starter Week 4 versus the Jets in the likely event that Williams remains out.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Listed DNP on Thursday

Bagent (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice estimate. The same can be said for Caleb Williams (hamstring), who is in danger of missing the first game of his pro career. Bagent himself entered the concussion protocol Tuesday and wasn't present at the Bears' facility Wednesday, indicating he's a long shot to be available Monday versus the Eagles. As things currently stand, neither Williams nor Bagent has been ruled out for Week 3 action, but veteran Case Keenum seems to be shaking up as the starter for that contest.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: No practice Wednesday

Coach Ben Johnson said Bagent (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Bagent was placed in concussion protocol Tuesday and isn't at the Bears' facility Wednesday as a result, making it unlikely that he's a candidate to be available for Monday's game against the Eagles. No. 1 QB Caleb Williams also isn't practicing Wednesday due to the strained right hamstring he suffered this past Sunday versus the Vikings. As the healthiest QB on the active roster, veteran Case Keenum is working with the first-team offense at Wednesday's unofficial session.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Enters concussion protocol

Bagent was diagnosed with a concussion and placed in the five-step protocol Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. With Caleb Williams viewed as week-to-week after suffering a hamstring injury in the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Vikings, Bagent was the leading candidate to start Monday against the Eagles. However, his availability for Week 3 is suddenly up in the air. Third-stringer Case Keenum is left as the only healthy quarterback on the roster and would start against the Eagles if neither Williams nor Bagent is cleared to play.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Week 3 Waiver Priority List

Bagent will start for Caleb Williams (hamstring), who is considered week-to-week. I don't have high expectations for Bagent, but he is worth adding in all Superflex and two-quarterback leagues for up to 10 percent of your remaining FAAB. He started four games in 2023 for the Bears and averaged just 13.4 Fantasy points per game.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Questionable for Week 1

Bagent (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Bagent missed practice all week, though it's unclear when he suffered the injury after completing 16 of 17 passes for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the preseason finale two weeks back. If Bagent is unable to dress as the QB2, Case Keenum would back up Caleb Williams.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Dealing with back issue

Bagent (back) did not participate at practice Thursday. Bagent was competing with veteran Case Keenum for the No.2 quarterback job during the preseason, but Bagent's injury issue might make the team's decision an easy one in Week 1. Unless he's able to practice in some capacity Friday, it's unlikely Bagent will suit up for Sunday's game at Carolina.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Near perfect in preseason finale

Bagent completed 16 of 17 passes for 208 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed twice for 21 yards in the Bears' 24-15 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday. He also lost a fumble. Bagent wasted no time setting the tone for what would be a prolific night, hitting rookie Zavion Thomas for a 97-yard catch-and-run touchdown on Chicago's first play from scrimmage. Bagent subsequently showed some nice touch on a fourth-down scoring strike to Maurice Alexander with just under five minutes remaining in the second quarter, and the only blemish on his night besides his sole incompletion was a lost fumble on a snap just inside Titans territory late in the first quarter. Bagent had a stellar two-game preseason, completing 29 of 39 pass attempts for 377 yards with a 3:1 TD:INT while adding three carries for 28 yards. However, veteran Case Keenum also was effective across three exhibitions and certainly has the experience edge, so it remains to be seen who'll garner the No. 2 quarterback job behind Caleb Williams to open the season.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Bothered by hamstring injury

Bagent suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's preseason win over Cleveland, making him unlikely to practice or play this week, Mark Carman of CHGO Bears reports. With Bagent unlikely to play in the Bears' second preseason game Saturday against the Bengals, Case Keenum and Miller Moss figure to take most of the QB snaps. Coach Ben Johnson hasn't yet said if Caleb Williams and other starters will play.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Starting preseason opener as Williams rests

Bagent is in line to start and play the first half of Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Head coach Ben Johnson named Bagent the starter for Saturday's game and added that Caleb Williams won't play Saturday and may not see action at all in the preseason. Bagent is firmly penciled in as Williams' backup in a quarterback room that also includes Case Keenum and Miller Moss.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Subject of trade chatter

Bears GM Ryan Poles said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that teams have called about the availability of Bagent via trade this offseason, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Bagent was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Shepherd in 2023 and started four games as a rookie, completing 94 of 143 passes for 859 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions across five total appearances. He's attempted just six regular-season passes over the last two campaigns but has looked good during the preseason when on the field. Bagent has two years remaining on his contract at $4 million each season, so he's very affordable and could be a stop-gap option for a rebuilding team.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: No longer under the weather

Bagent (illness) was a full participant in Tuesday's walkthrough practice. Bagent was unable to serve as Caleb Williams' backup quarterback during Sunday's win over the Browns due to an illness. By working in full Tuesday, Bagent is on track to be available against the Packers on Saturday, so Case Keenum will likely revert to the QB3 role.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Inks two-year extension

Bagent agreed to terms Wednesday on a two-year, $10 million contract extension with the Bears, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Bagent has clearly impressed new head coach Ben Johnson throughout training camp and the preseason, and the commitment of a new two-year contract is a concrete indication that he's beaten out Case Keenum (leg) for the No. 2 quarterback role behind Caleb Williams. Across two preseason appearances thus far, Bagent has completed 26 of 41 pass attempts for 299 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. His final chance to log exhibition reps before Week 1 will come Friday on the road against Kansas City.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Set to start Thursday

Bagent is slated to start Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Texans, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Coach Matt Eberflus announced Tuesday that the Bears won't play key starters in the team's exhibition opener, which means that 2024 first overall pick Caleb Williams won't see any snaps. As a result, Bagent will get the starting nod versus Houston, with fellow QBs Brett Rypien and Austin Reed also available to see action.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Dealing with illness

Bagent didn't participate in practice Wednesday due to an illness. The nature and severity of Bagent's ailment aren't known, but he'll still have two more days to potentially return to practice and clear up his availability for Sunday's season finale versus the Packers. Since starting four straight games between Weeks 7 and 10, Bagent hasn't seen any snaps in any of the Bears' subsequent six contests while Justin Fields has made his return from a thumb injury.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Picked off thrice in Week 9 loss

Bagent completed 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed eight times for 70 yards and lost a fumble while recovering another. As has been the case in each of his appearances this season, Bagent certainly had his moments, including as a runner. The undrafted rookie also showed his inexperience on multiple occasions, however, with his first interception leading to a game-tying touchdown for the Saints in the opening period. Bagent did partly make up for the turnovers with 18- and nine-yard scoring tosses to Cole Kmet. It remains to be seen whether Bagent will be called on for at least one more start in a Thursday night Week 10 home matchup against the Panthers or if Justin Fields (thumb) will be ready to return to action in that contest.
