  • Bills' Corey Thompson: Misses Tuesday's practice

Thompson missed Tuesday's practice due to knee soreness, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Thompson is trying to cement a spot for the third straight season with the Bills, where he would serve as a depth linebacker and special teams guy if he makes it.

  • Bills' Corey Thompson: Game time-call against Eagles

Thompson (ankle) will be a game-time call for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. After not practicing for nearly a month, Thompson got back onto the field in a limited capacity this week. The team will likely want to test how the 25-year-old's ankle responds during pregame warmups before deciding whether to deploy him. Thompson usually sticks to a special-teams role, but he could have an uptick in usage if Matt Milano (hamstring) sits out.

  • Bills' Corey Thompson: Officially questionable

Thompson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals. Thompson practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday but was a non-participant Friday. The nature of his ankle injury remains unknown, but it appears as though the reserve linebacker's status for Week 3 could come down to a game-time call.

  • Bills' Corey Thompson: Promoted to active roster

Thompson was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Monday, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports. Thompson has yet to play in what is his rookie season, spending the campaign on Buffalo's practice squad thus far. He'll likely operate as a depth defender and special teams player for the Bills. Looking ahead, Thompson could see some action against the Jaguars in Week 12, especially if starting linebacker Matt Milano (concussion) is held out, though Milano is already three steps through the protocol and is working through No. 4 on Monday.
