• Jalen Mayfield: Gets workout with Cleveland

  The Browns hosted Mayfield (ankle) for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Mayfield signed with the Giants in January after spending the first two years of his NFL career with the Falcons. He was placed on the Giants' IR after sustaining an ankle injury during New York's preseason finale, and he was let go one day later with an injury settlement. Mayfield appears to have recovered from his ankle injury, and he'll look to add depth to a Browns' offensive line dealing with injuries to starting guards Jack Conklin (knee) and Jedrick Wills (knee).

  Mayfield (ankle) was let go from the Giants' injured reserve after reaching an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Mayfield was waived with an injury designation and subsequently reverted to IR on Wednesday due to an ankle injury he sustained in the Giants' preseason finale against the Jets on Saturday. The 2021 third-round pick will now be able to sign with a team once he's fully healthy. Mayfield started in 16 games in his rookie season with the Falcons, but he appeared in just three contests in 2023 with the Giants.

  Mayfield (ankle) reverted to injured reserve with the Giants on Wednesday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Mayfield was waived with an injury designation by New York, reverting to IR after going unclaimed. The offensive lineman suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's preseason finale against the Jets and he'll now be forced to sit out the entire 2024 season.

  Mayfield will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Jets due to an ankle injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. After coming off the field, Mayfield was taken into the tunnel on a cart and had his right cleat off, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. Mayfield appeared in three games for the Giants last season, and the 2021 third-round pick has been competing for a depth spot on offensive line this summer. His ankle injury will likely factor into his chances of making the 53-man roster.

• Falcons' Jalen Mayfield: Back during OTAs

  Mayfield (back) was seen taking some reps at right guard during 11-on-11 drills throughout last week's OTA practices, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports. The Falcons' 2021 third-round pick missed the entire 2022 NFL season with a back injury, but he's back on the field after having moved past the health issue. During his rookie campaign, Mayfield started all but one game for Atlanta at left guard, but the team now has him taking snaps at right guard. He won't be starting over All-Pro right guard Chris Lindstrom, so it's most likely that Mayfield will serve as a depth piece for the Falcons' offensive line.
