Van Vooren signed a contract to join the Cowboys' practice squad Tuesday. Van Vooren opened training camp with New England before being waived Aug. 18. He signed with Dallas less than a week later but was waived again Sunday. The Cowboys liked what they saw from Van Vooren enough during his brief stay with the team to sign him to their practice squad, where he'll serve as organizational depth at tight end.

  • Cowboys' Mitch Van Vooren: Lands in Dallas

Van Vooren signed with the Cowboys on Monday, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Van Vooren was waived by New England on Aug. 18. Dallas is dealing with injuries to backup tight ends Brevyn Spann-Ford (undisclosed), Michael Trigg (toe) and DJ Rogers (knee), and the team only played with two healthy tight ends in its last preseason game Saturday against the Cardinals, per Harris. Van Vooren, who has yet to make an NFL regular-season appearance, should have a chance to make his mark in Dallas' last preseason contest.

  • Mitch Van Vooren: Let go by New England

The Patriots waived Van Vooren on Tuesday. Van Vooren signed with the Patriots near the start of training camp. The tight end was unable to make it with the Browns, being waived in August of 2025, while making it to a similar spot in the Patriots' 2026 training camp. Van Vooren will now be placed on waivers, and if he clears will become a free agent able to sign with any organization.

  • Patriots' Mitch Van Vooren: Signs with Pats

New England signed Van Vooren on Wednesday. Van Vooren did not make the cut for the Browns' 53-man roster back in August of 2025, but he's now getting another chance to make an impression with a new club. He'll at least be able to give the team some practice reps at tight end after the Patriots placed Julian Hill (knee) on their injured reserve list back in June and placed CJ Dippre (undisclosed) on their active/PUP list to start training camp.

  • Browns' Mitch Van Vooren: New opportunity in Cleveland

The Browns signed Van Vooren to a contract Monday. The undrafted free agent out of St. Norbert was let go by the Seahawks in mid-June, but Van Vooren will get another shot at making an NFL roster with the Browns. He's a longshot to make the Browns' 53-man roster in late August, but a strong training camp could give Van Vooren the opportunity to stick around on the team's practice squad.

  • Mitch Van Vooren: Parts ways with Seattle
