The Seahawks waived Johnson (undisclosed) with an injury settlement from the team's injured reserve Thursday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Johnson was anticipated to miss the entire 2022 season after he was placed on Seattle's IR at the end of August. The 24-year-old running back will now be free to sign elsewhere and hopefully record his first NFL snap, given he can move past his unspecified injury.

Seahawks' Josh Johnson: Still no preseason action
Rotowire
Johnson didn't play in Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears.
Johnson also didn't play in the preseason opener. There's no hint that he's battling an injury, so it's odd that he's not even getting a look on special teams. Meanwhile, running backs Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas and Darwin Thompson all handled reps in both preseason contests.

Josh Johnson: Back with practice squad
Rotowire
Johnson reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Wednesday.
Johnson was active for the second time this season, and he saw snaps behind Rashaad Penny and DeeJay Dallas. With Alex Collins and Travis Homer set to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list this week, the Seahawks don't have an immediate need for Johnson's presence on the active roster.

With both Alex Collins and Travis Homer on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Johnson could be in line for another activation if they fail to clear protocols before the team's Week 16 game against the Bears.

Seahawks' Josh Johnson: Logs 10 touches
Rotowire
Johnson rushed nine times for 30 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Saturday's 30-3 preseason loss to the Broncos.
Johnson led the backfield in touches, but we shouldn't read into it too much, as they were all in the fourth quarter, while nearly all the starters were on the sidelines. The undrafted rookie out of Louisiana-Monroe has an uphill climb to secure a roster spot.
