Schnell geared up for one game with the Buccaneers during his rookie season after spending most of the year on the practice squad. The Illinois State product had modest collegiate production, but he's expected to clear waivers and land on the practice squad again.

Schnell inked a contract with the Buccaneers on Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Schnell was let go by the team earlier this offseason, but the Buccaneers elected to give him another shot at making the roster. The 25-year-old only saw action in one game for the team last season, recording three yards on a punt return and one offensive snap.

Schnell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 17 tilt against the Falcons, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Schnell was active and served as the team's punt returner in Week 16, but he'll take a seat for the finale with Jaydon Mickens and John Franklin promoted from the practice squad this week.

Buccaneers' Spencer Schnell: Sticks to punt returns
Schnell did not see any targets in Saturday's 23-20 loss to the Texans but returned two punts for three yards.
Schnell was promoted from the practice squad the Wednesday before the contest with the Buccaneers thin at the receiver position overall, but he was limited to just one snap from scrimmage. Schnell logged 11 on special teams and wasn't able to shake loose on his pair of returns, but he'll look to potentially play a larger role in Week 17 against the Falcons if active.

Buccaneers' Spencer Schnell: Bumps to active roster
The Buccaneers promoted Schnell to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Schnell joined the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday after Chris Godwin and Mike Evans both suffered hamstring injuries in Sunday's win over the Lions. Evans was placed on injured reserve, and it's increasingly unlikely Godwin will be able to play Saturday versus the Texans, so Schnell will add depth to the Bucs' receiving corps. The undrafted rookie was productive at Illinois State, generating 65 receptions for 872 yards and nine touchdowns in his senior season, but he'll likely stay in a special-teams role if he suits up Saturday.

Schnell signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Schnell spent the preseason with Tampa Bay, playing in all four games and catching seven passes for 119 yards. The rookie receiver likely will not find himself on the active roster right away, but with Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) both injured, he could find himself an injury or two away from having a role in the offense.
