  • Texans' Christian Harris: Could be back soon

General Manager Nick Caserio said Tuesday that Harris (calf) may be back "sooner rather than later," Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Harris has not been able to play at all this season due to a soft-tissue calf injury, but he's eligible to be activated from injured reserve as soon as Week 15 (after Houston's Week 14 bye). With teammate Azeez Al-Shaair having been issued a three-game suspension Tuesday for a brutal hit on quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Harris could be in line for a significant role as soon as he's available again.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Remaining sidelined

Harris (calf) will not be designated to return from injured reserve this week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Harris has been dealing with the injury since training camp and with another week on the shelf expected, it's not clear when he'll return to the field. His continued absence will leave the Texans without their expected starter at middle linebacker and Jake Hansen to continue handling that role in Week 8 against the Colts.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Won't return for Week 6

Harris (calf) will remain on the Texans' injured reserve list until after Sunday's game at New England, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Harris became eligible to return from the injured reserve list ahead Week 5, but he'll now apparently need to sit out at least one more game as he works through a calf issue. Until he's able to return, 2023 fifth-rounder Henry To'oTo'o should continue to see an increased workload.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Could miss regular-season opener

Harris (calf) is in jeopardy of missing the Texans' Week 1 game against the Colts, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Houston's top middle linebacker has been dealing with a calf issue since late July, and it now appears that this injury could sideline him for Houston's Week 1 contest. If Harries does miss the Texans' regular-season opener, expect Jake Hansen to work as the team's top inside linebacker.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Dealing with leg injury

Harris has missed the team's last three practices due to a soft-tissue leg injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The second-year linebacker was a revelation for Houston in the latter half of the team's playoff campaign, as Harris tallied 75 tackles, 2.0 sacks and an interception in his final nine games including the playoffs. While the lack of specific details regarding the injury is noteworthy, it doesn't sound as if the team expects Harris to be limited entering Week 1 come early September.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Houston's leading tackler vs. Jags

Harris recorded 12 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 24-21 loss versus Jacksonville. Harris played a season-high 66 defensive snaps in Week 12 and managed a double-digit tackle total for the first time since Week 4 versus the Steelers. It seems he may have overtaken Henry To'oTo'o as the Texans' second-most used linebacker behind Blake Cashman, and that would put him on the IDP radar for a Week 13 matchup versus the Broncos.

The Texans got a heavy dose of the run against the Ravens in Week 1 and should see more of the same when they welcome Indianapolis to town in Week 2.

  • Texans' Christian Harris: Massive outing Week 16

Harris recorded 14 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs. Harris was one of four Houston defenders to log double-digit tackles, as the team struggled to get off the field against Kansas City's potent offense. This allowed the rookie linebacker to set career highs in tackles and defensive snaps (76). Harris has now totaled 55 tackles and two passes defended while playing every defensive snap in five of his nine games this season, and he'll likely serve an important role in slowing down starting Titans running back Derrick Henry in Week 16.
