The second-year pro logged a DNP on Friday after two limited practice sessions earlier in the week, so it's no surprise that he won't be suiting up Sunday. Expect Chris Williams to serve as Chicago's top backup defensive tackle with Pickens sidelined for Week 1.

Pickens posted two tackles in the Bears' 17-9 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
After being selected in the third round of the 2023 draft, Pickens was a rotational player who was on the field for 251 snaps in 17 games. On the season, the defensive tackle recorded 20 tackles and a forced fumble. If his snap share increases, he could emerge as a solid interior lineman in IDP leagues. Pickens is signed with the Bears through 2026.

The Bears selected Pickens in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 64th overall.
Pickens (6-foot-4, 291 pounds) is big by defensive end standards but light compared to most tackles, making him a bit of a tweener who might fit best in odd-numbered fronts. Pickens' production was lacking at South Carolina otherwise, but his 4.89 40-yard dash and 116-inch broad jump indicate uncommon disruptive potential for one-gap tasks.
