Cannon (ankle) is on track to be cleared in mid-June, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
Cannon required surgery to repair a severe ankle sprain that prematurely ended his 2017 season after eight games. The plan is for him to start at right tackle in 2018.
Cannon hadn't practiced in weeks and was unable to make much progress since sustaining the high-ankle sprain in Week 8, prompting New England to shut him down for the season. According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Cannon, who is also nursing a foot injury, will likely require surgery to address the ankle issue, but the Patriots expect him to be ready to go for Organized Team Activities in the spring. New England will proceed with LaAdrian Waddle (ankle) as its right tackle, with Cameron Fleming set to serve as the backup at the position.
Cannon (ankle) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Cannon has not practiced in a few weeks and currently has no timetable for return. Cameron Fleming is a likely candidate to fill in at right tackle.
