The extent of Milton's hip injury is unclear at this point, but it will hinder his chances at competing for a significant role in the Colts' secondary if he remains sidelined during preseason. His status for Thursday's exhibition tilt against the Seahawks is up in the air.
Milton's tender is a one-year deal that will keep him in Indianapolis for a third season. He had nine tackles in 14 games last year while playing primarily on special teams. He saw just 20 defensive snaps on the season but played in 74 percent of special teams plays. He'll figure to be a primary special teams player once again in 2018 while trying to work his way into the defensive rotation.
Milton (neck) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Milton didn't participate in Friday's practice and was given a questionable designation, but it appears it may have been just for cautionary measure. The second-year pro has only played seven defensive snaps all season, so don't expect much of an impact Sunday.
Milton was never more than a limited participant last week before not suiting up for Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. The 25-year-old primarily is a special teams contributor, but four other members of the Colts' secondary were limited or did not practice Wednesday, which could provide some opportunities if the injuries linger through the week.
