  • Justin Lawler: Restored to practice squad

Lawler was restored to the Rams' practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday. Lawler has appeared in three games for the Rams this season, but none since Week 4. With the Rams' linebacker unit mostly healthy right now, it won't be easy for Lawler to make his way to the active roster, despite clearing COVID-19 protocols.

  • Rams' Justin Lawler: Elevated to active roster

The Rams elevated Lawler to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday, Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Lawler broke his hand during Week 2 and underwent surgery. His return to the active roster is a good sign, but he will likely be sporting a cast for at least a few weeks. The 26-year-old will likely assume his role as a depth inside linebacker who sees the field mostly during special teams.

Chris Garrett (undisclosed) could see additional snaps as depth at linebacker once he's cleared to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

  • Justin Lawler: Joins Rams' practice squad

Lawler signed with the Rams' practice squad Wednesday, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Lawler spent the 2020 campaign on injured reserve and was waived by Los Angeles on Tuesday. However, he'll return to the team a day later and will be available to step into a depth role if the Rams' linebackers deal with injuries this year.
