The Rams elevated Lawler to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday, Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Lawler broke his hand during Week 2 and underwent surgery. His return to the active roster is a good sign, but he will likely be sporting a cast for at least a few weeks. The 26-year-old will likely assume his role as a depth inside linebacker who sees the field mostly during special teams.

Lawler was diagnosed with a broken hand after Sunday's Week 2 win over the Colts, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Lawler was removed from Sunday's game in the first half, and a timetable for his return isn't yet clear. Chris Garrett (undisclosed) could see additional snaps as depth at linebacker once he's cleared to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Lawler spent the 2020 campaign on injured reserve and was waived by Los Angeles on Tuesday. However, he'll return to the team a day later and will be available to step into a depth role if the Rams' linebackers deal with injuries this year.
