The Dolphins signed Smith to their practice squad Tuesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Smith was released by the Cardinals on Sept. 18 after accumulating two tackles in two games. The third-year defensive tackle out of Georgia has appeared in 13 games in his career.
Smith was released by Arizona on Tuesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website reports.
Smith was claimed off waivers from the Falcons following final cuts and appeared in both games for the Cardinals. The five-year veteran has 16 tackles in 13 career games.
Smith has spent the majority of his NFL career on practice squads, logging stints with the Dolphins, 49ers and Seahawks since 2014. He was activated by the Seahawks for the second half of last season, as he recorded nine tackles (six solo) in eight contests. He'll now compete for a spot on the Falcons' 53-man roster this offseason.
Smith was most recently waived by the Seahawks on Nov. 28 but subsequently reverted to their practice squad. In total, he has played six games with the team this season. He could be in line for some work in Week 15 if Nazair Jones (ankle) is unable to play.
