Giants' David Sills: Receiving corps too crowded?
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sills (foot) is facing long odds to earn a spot on the Giants' Week 1 roster, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Sills missed all of the 2020 season due to a fractured right foot, and even with a healthy offseason, there may not be room for him on New York's 53-man squad heading into 2021. Duggan estimates that the Giants will roster six wideouts, with Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and John Ross already expected to account for four of those slots. Dante Pettis seems like another likely roster candidate, so the addition of one or more rookie wideouts in the 2021 NFL Draft could effectively leave Sills only in a position to compete for a role on the practice squad.

Giants' David Sills: Shifts to COVID list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sills (foot) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Sills has spent the entire season on injured reserve due to a fractured right foot, and there was no indication that the Giants planned on activating him at any point this season prior to his placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Once he clears the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, the second-year wideout will revert to IR.

The Giants placed Sills (foot) on injured reserve Friday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Sills fractured his right foot, ending an encouraging training camp for the 24-year-old wide receiver. He was expected to make the team, but now he'll shift his focus to the 2021 campaign.

Giants' David Sills: Placed on reserve/COVID-19 list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants placed Sills (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

Sills' placement on the COVID list means that he's either contracted the virus or been exposed to it and needs to quarantine. The West Virginia product spent most of the 2019 campaign on New York's practice squad after going undrafted. He had a brief stint on the active roster, but did not ultimately get the opportunity to make his NFL debut.

Giants' David Sills: Receives promotion
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants promoted Sills from their practice squad Tuesday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

The Giants placed Evan Engram (foot) on injured reserve Tuesday, affording Sills a chance for a two-game test run with the team to finish the year. Sills -- an undrafted rookie out of West Virginia -- was highly productive in college, recording 125 receptions for 1,966 yards and 33 touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons. However, Sills likely will have to prove himself on special teams Sunday against the Redskins to catch the coaches' eyes going forward.

Sills signed with the Giants' practice squad on Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.

Sills spent training camp and the preseason with the Bills but was let go over the weekend. The 23-year-old went undrafted out of West Virginia in April after catching 65 passes for 986 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

David Sills: Comes up short
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sills was let go Saturday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

Sills was considered a shrewd undrafted free agent signing by the team after a standout career at West Virginia, but he never really did much to put himself even on the roster bubble. Given his upside, however, he looks to be a prime candidate for the practice squad.

Bills' David Sills: Dinged up for OTAs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sills was limited during Tuesday's OTA session due to a hamstring issue, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

The term "limited" isn't much of a concern this far ahead of the season, though as an undrafted free agent, Sills can't afford much missed time, so we'll see how he does as OTAs continue this week. Even though he's a UDFA, Sills has a legit shot to make the team following two big final seasons at West Virginia. If the name looks familiar, Sills was a 13-year-old commit to USC and Lane Kiffin several years ago before a significant hand injury forced him into another position. Sills is difficult to cover and, as a former high-level quarterback, brings extra intangibles to the offense. That all said, he'll have to turn some heads this summer to make the team.

Bills' David Sills: Gets chance in Buffalo
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sills has signed as an undrafted free agent, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

It's a bit of a surprise Sills didn't go on the last day of the draft, though at least he'll have a fair chance to land a final roster spot with the Bills, a team that didn't have much of a passing attack this season and still has room for a youngster at the bottom of the final depth chart. Sills posted a whopping 33 touchdown catches in his last two seasons for West Virginia, with 125 receptions and 1,966 receiving yards over that span. He'll be in the mix as an outside receiver, where the top options look like John Brown, Zay Jones and Robert Foster -- after that there may be room for one more outside guy on the roster.
