Loewen didn't see the field during Detroit's season finale against Green Bay.
Loewen was signed for depth at a time Detroit was in need of it along the defensive line, but he never took the field. The three-year vet will be a restricted free agent at the end of the league year.
Loewen was waived by the Saints on Dec. 27, and finds a home in Detroit just one day later. His spot on the 53-man roster comes following the placement of A'Shawn Robinson (knee) on injured reserve. Expect Loewen to serve a depth role during Sunday's season-finale tilt against the Packers.
Loewen was waived by the Saints on Thursday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Loewen only suited up in Week 2 for the Saints and did not log a defensive statistic. The 25-year-old will search for a depth role elsewhere in the league.
Loewen (neck) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Rams.
Loewen hasn't seen any action since Week 2, but he could be active for the Week 9 matchup with the Saints down a defensive end in Marcus Davenport (toe). Even if Loewen suits up, he likely wouldn't be in line for many snaps as the clear No. 4 end in the rotation behind Cameron Jordan, Alex Okafor and Trey Hendrickson.
Loewen (neck) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Loewen is nursing a neck injury, and remains without a timeline for his recovery. The depth defensive end's absence is unlikely to affect New Orleans' defense, but could cause additional special teams snaps to me made available.
