Lions' Jeff Okudah: Won't suit up Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Texans, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Okudah missed the entire week of practice after suffering a shoulder injury in this past Sunday's loss to the Panthers. The third-overall pick's usage has declined recently, as he hasn't played more than 50 percent of the snaps on defense since Week 8. Desmond Trufant, Justin Coleman and Amani Oruwariye (back), who is considered questionable, are expected to start Thursday's game at cornerback.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Listed as DNP
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Okudah suffered this injury during Sunday's loss to the Panthers. It's discouraging that he's starting the week as a DNP, but he'll have two more practices to upgrade his status. Mike Ford (concussion) also missed Monday's practice, so Desmond Trufant, Justin Coleman and Amani Oruwariye are the only healthy cornerbacks on Detroit's roster.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Picks up shoulder injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah exited Sunday's game against the Panthers with a shoulder injury.

The rookie first-round pick had seven tackles (five solo) before leaving the game during the fourth quarter. Okudah will have a short week to recover before Thursday's Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Texans.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Upgraded Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (ankle/groin) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Okudah was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice with two separate injuries, but he seems on track for Sunday's game against the Football Team. The rookie from Ohio State has played at least half of the team's defensive snaps every game he's been healthy, so expect him to do so again in Week 10 now that he's back to full practice participation.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Limited in practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (ankle/groin) was limited in practice Wednesday.

Okudah is dealing with two separate injuries stemming from Sunday's loss to the Vikings. The rookie has played in nearly two-thirds of Detroit's defensive snaps this season so if he is ruled out, look for Amani Oruwariye and Desmond Trufant to carry the load against Washington on Sunday.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Questionable to return Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (ankle) has been listed as questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the Vikings.

The No. 3 overall choice from April's draft was forced to sit out Week 1 because of a hamstring issue, but he's otherwise been available for every game of his rookie campaign. Okudah has played more than 90 percent of the defensive workload in all but one of his six outings, surrendering just one touchdown in coverage while also forcing one interception. If he can't make it Sunday, Mike Ford may be forced into a late-game role with the Lions trailing Minnesota by multiple possessions.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Back at full speed
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (hamstring) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Okudah wasn't ready to make his NFL debut in Week 1, but the third-overall pick appears good to go this Sunday against the Packers. The 21-year-old has a tough task ahead after Aaron Rodgers torched Minnesota's young secondary in the season opener, so this will be a good gauge of where the rookie stands. His responsibilities could be heightened if Desmond Trufant (hamstring) can't go after starting the practice week as a nonparticipant.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Out for Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (hamstring) will not play Sunday against the Raiders.

Okudah was not expected to play in Sunday's season opener, and that will indeed be the case. Okudah, the third pick in this year's draft, was listed as questionable for Week 1, so he should have a chance to make his debut in the Lions' Week 2 matchup with the Packers.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Trending toward Week 1 absence
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, isn't expected to be available Week 1, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After he was absent from the Lions' first injury report of the week Wednesday, the No. 3 overall pick was limited in the team's subsequent two sessions by the hamstring issue. The Lions apparently aren't inclined to take any chances with the cornerback, whose NFL debut looks like it will have to wait until Sept. 20 in Green Bay. Okudah is expected to begin his career in a depth role, as Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com notes that Desmond Trufant and Amani Oruwariye both locked down starting jobs coming out of training camp.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Questionable for Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Okudah wasn't listed on Detroit's injury report to begin the week, but he's been limited in back-to-back practices since popping up with a hamstring issue Thursday. If the No. 3 overall pick in April's draft is limited or forced to sit out the season opener, Justin Coleman would stand to handle increased snaps opposite Desmond Trufant.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Sidelined at practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Okudah (hamstring) was a limited participant for Thursday's practice.

It's certainly negative news that Okudah popped up on the injury report after he wasn't listed Wednesday. However, it's possible the Lions could be getting the rookie out of Ohio State some extra rest ahead of Week 1's game against Chicago. In any event, if he's forced to miss Sunday's game, Justin Coleman would be in line for the bulk of cornerback reps opposite Desmond Trufant.

Lions' Jeff Okudah: Detroit bound
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Lions selected Okudah in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, third overall.

Okudah is the latest in a long line of stellar cornerbacks to come out of Ohio State. A rangy defender with sticky coverage skills, Okudah checks in at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds. He worked as an outside cornerback during his time with the Buckeyes and profiles as a shutdown corner at the next level. Okudah possesses physicality to jam receivers at the line and the instincts to stick with receivers down the field. With Darius Slay being dealt this offseason, cornerback was a major need for the Lions and Okudah more than fills that need. He is the NFL's highest drafted cornerback since Shawn Springs (also No. 3 overall) in 1997.
