  • Flames' Michael Stone: Snaps drought with helper

Stone logged an assist and two hits in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Stars. Stone entered Saturday on an eight-game point drought. He put it to rest with a secondary helper on Nazem Kadri's second-period tally. With Oliver Kylington (personal) yet to play this season, Stone has been a fixture on the Flames' third pairing. He's produced nine points, 59 shots on net, 39 hits, 32 blocked shots, 23 PIM and a plus-4 rating through 34 contests.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Opens scoring Friday

Stone scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over the Ducks. Stone snapped a seven-game point drought with his first-period tally. It was his first goal since Dec. 9, and he's seen mostly limited ice time on the third pairing in that quiet span. The 32-year-old saw some power-play time earlier in the season, but it appears Noah Hanifin is preferred in that role now. Stone has produced four goals, four assists, 47 shots, 27 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 25 outings.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Pots only Calgary goal in loss

Stone scored his third goal of the season in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets. Calgary was nearly shut out in Columbus, but Stone blasted the puck past Elvis Merzlikins through a screen with less than three minutes left in the third period to give the Flames a bit of life. The veteran blueliner spent most of November on IR for undisclosed reasons, and since his return he's managed only one goal and two points through seven games, although he has carved out a spot on the second power-play unit during that time to give him some deep-league fantasy intrigue.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Earns power-play assist in return

Stone logged a power-play assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes. Stone missed the last 10 games with an undisclosed injury. He stepped right back into a third-pairing role, seeing 16:42 of ice time in his first game since Nov. 5. The defenseman also set up an Adam Ruzicka goal in the first period. Stone was a bright spot for the Flames prior to his injury -- he's now at six points (two on the power play), 23 shots on net, 13 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-5 rating in 11 appearances. He's exactly matched his point total from 11 outings last season.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Sustains injury

Stone (undisclosed) left Saturday's game versus the Devils in the first period, Julian McKenzie of The Athletic reports. Stone took one shift in the first period and couldn't continue, suggesting he may have been dealing with something prior to the contest. The 32-year-old defenseman has been a pleasant surprise for the Flames so far, logging five points in 10 contests. If Stone and Chris Tanev (upper body) can't travel for the team's upcoming three-game road trip, Nicholas Meloche will likely be called up from AHL Calgary.

Stone scored a goal and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Penguins. Stone turned in an excellent performance at both ends of the rink. His goal in the second period was the last of the game, a long-range blast that made it through traffic cleanly. The 32-year-old has been a surprise source of offense with two goals and three helpers in six contests, and he's added 14 shots on net, seven blocked shots, five hits and a plus-3 rating in a third-pairing role.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Still thriving on third pairing

Stone logged an assist and fired eight shots on goal in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Sabres. Stone has earned four points in as many games to begin the 2022-23 season. He helped out on a Trevor Lewis tally late in the second period of this contest. Stone's up to 13 shots on net, a plus-1 rating, four hits and seven blocked shots while averaging just 14:11 of ice time per game so far. The 32-year-old is steady but unspectacular on offense, so his value remains far higher on the ice than in fantasy.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Erupts with three points

Stone scored a goal on three shots, added two assists, went plus-2 and blocked four shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Oilers. Both teams have plenty of firepower up front, but it was Stone who led the game with three points, one of which was a power-play assist. He was involved in the Flames' first three goals to set the tone in this contest. The 32-year-old has made an art of turning tryout offers into contracts with the Flames as he enters his seventh year with the team. He appears to have a solid role on the third pairing, at least until Oliver Kylington (personal) rejoins the club.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: Secures PTO

Stone will join Calgary for training camp on a professional tryout, the team announced Monday. Stone has spent the past six years with the Flames, so it's a bit of a surprise the team needs to go the tryout route before committing to the blueliner. The Winnipeg native played in just 11 games last season but certainly made them count with two goals and four assists, including two power-play points. Whether Stone makes the Opening Night roster could depend on the health of Chris Tanev (shoulder).

After entering the lineup for Chris Tanev in Game 4 of the first round, Stone contributed two goals and three helpers in nine outings. Stone scored a goal on two shots and added four PIM in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Oilers in Game 2. Stone opened the scoring at 3:02 of the first period. The 31-year-old defenseman has shown quality with four points, 20 shots on net, 11 hits and a plus-6 rating through six playoff appearances. His spot in the lineup is essentially guaranteed until Chris Tanev (undisclosed) can return.

Stone picked up three points in four appearances during the first round in a bottom-four role. He's added 17 shots on net, nine hits and a plus-4 rating, and he may continue to play alongside Oliver Kylington as long as Tanev is sidelined.

  • Flames' Michael Stone: One of each in loss

Stone scored a goal on three shots, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Stars in Game 6. Stone has played in three straight games, and he was in on both of the Flames' goals Friday. The defenseman's presence in the lineup helped to offset the loss of Chris Tanev (undisclosed), who couldn't finish the contests. Stone has added 15 shots on net, two hits and a plus-2 rating in three postseason contests, and he should be a lock to play Sunday in Game 7 if Tanev's unable to suit up.
