    Tavares scored the game-winning goal and added two assists, one on the power play, in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Red Wings. Toronto was down 2-0 heading into the third period, but the line of Tavares, William Nylander and Tyler Bertuzzi combined for three goals and eight points in the final frame. There's no hotter player in the NHL than Nylander, but Tavares is off to a strong start to the season as well, delivering seven goals -- three of them game-winners -- and 19 points through 16 games.

    Tavares collected two assists, one on the power play, in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Senators. The veteran center had a hand in each of Toronto's first two goals of the night. It was the center's third goal of the season. Tavares' perfect start to the season continues. He has a season-long scoring streak (six games; three goals, seven assists) and sits tied with William Nylander for the team scoring lead. Tavares also won 10 face-offs (71.4 percent), a place he's been dominant all season (62-for-100). His production has been outstanding so far, and he'll continue to score. But his output will definitely slow -- Tavares isn't going to score at his current pace (136 points). Test the market on a sell high to see what you might get.

The first was a quick shot from the high slot in the first on a nice feed from Morgan Rielly. His second came in the second when he finished a three-on-two break with a nice backhander. And then Tavares was showered with hats in the third when he walked out from the corner on a five-on-three and put a backhander under Andrei Vasilevskiy that the netminder knocked into his own net. Tavares has four points (three goals, one assist) in two games so far this postseason.
