  • Coyotes' Zack Kassian: Newest member of Coyotes

The Oilers traded Kassian, the 29th overall selection in this year's Entry Draft and future second (2025) and third round (2024) picks to the Coyotes on Thursday in exchange for the 32nd overall pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The Oilers paid a hefty price in order to dump Kassian and his $3.2 million cap hit each of the next two seasons on the asset-collecting Coyotes. Kassian spent some time playing in Edmonton's top-six a year ago, but he's always been best suited for a depth role. He managed just six goals and 19 points in 58 games for the Oilers last season and it's difficult to believe those numbers will improve on an Arizona squad with considerably less overall talent. Kassian will be 32 years of age next January and can be ignored in all fantasy leagues this coming fall.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Taps in goal

Kassian scored a goal, logged four hits and added two PIM in Monday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Avalanche in Game 4. Kassian saw a little more ice time Monday, logging a postseason-high 13:56 in this contest with the occasional shift on the top line. That's where he scored his goal with 3:22 left in regulation, converting on a Leon Draisaitl pass to force overtime. Kassian has four points, 17 shots, 52 hits and a minus-2 rating in 16 playoff contests. The veteran winger is under contract for two more years, so he'll likely return to a role in the Oilers' bottom six for 2022-23 after notching 19 points in 58 regular-season games this year.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Chips in with assist

Kassian provided an assist, four hits and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Avalanche in Game 1. Kassian didn't get on the scoresheet in any of the last seven games. He snapped the slump by setting up a Derek Ryan tally in the third period Tuesday. Through 13 playoff contests, Kassian has three points, 14 shots, 41 hits and a plus-1 rating while playing exclusively in a fourth-line role.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Tallies in overtime loss

Kassian scored a goal on three shots, doled out three hits and added two PIM in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings in Game 5. This was Kassian's first goal and second point in five playoff outings. The winger hasn't been short on physicality with 21 hits in a fourth-line role, though he's yet to exceed 10 minutes of ice time in any of the Oilers' postseason contests. As such, his limited offense makes him a risky option for DFS managers.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Hands out assist

Kassian posted an assist, six hits and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Kings in Game 2. Kassian has been a physical presence through two postseason contests, logging 12 hits. He's added three shots on net, though he's unlikely to be a big part of the Oilers' offense while playing on the fourth line. The winger had 19 points and 154 hits in 58 regular-season games.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Picks up helper Friday

Kassian logged an assist in Friday's 3-2 shootout win over the Canucks. Kassian earned his third point in the last seven games when he set up Tyson Barrie's game-tying goal at 9:10 of the third period. The 31-year-old Kassian ends the regular season with 19 points, 154 hits, 63 PIM, 58 shots on net and a plus-2 rating while mainly seeing a bottom-six role. He'll likely act mostly as an enforcer in the first-round playoff series versus the Kings, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to put up much offense.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Deposits empty-netter

Kassian scored an empty-net goal on two shots, added two hits and served two PIM in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Penguins. Kassian finished off the Oilers' dominant win at 18:26 of the third period. The 31-year-old winger has just one goal and one assist in 12 games in April. He's likely to remain in a bottom-six role heading into the playoffs. For the season, Kassian has six goals, 18 points, 153 hits, 63 PIM and 58 shots on net through 56 appearances.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Rare assist in win

Kassian picked up an assist in a 4-0 win over Vegas on Saturday. He set up Kris Russell for the game's opening -- and ultimately winning -- goal. It was Kassian's first point in eight games and just his third in his last 21. But you don't have him for his scoring. Kassian also laid five hits Saturday and has 141 in 51 games this season.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Garners helper in loss

Kassian registered an assist, four hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 9-5 loss to the Flames. Kassian had the secondary assist on the first of Leon Draisaitl's three goals in the game. The 31-year-old winger has two helpers in nine games since returning from a broken jaw. Kassian has played mostly in a fourth-line role, so scoring hasn't been at the top of his priorities. He's at 16 points, 125 hits, 47 PIM, 46 shots on net and a minus-2 rating in 44 contests as a physical presence in the lineup.

Kassian (jaw) was placed on long-term injured reserve Thursday. Kassian was given a 4-8 week timeline to return after suffering a fractured jaw Wednesday versus the Blackhawks. Given the timeline, it's not surprising for him to go on LTIR to free up $3.2 million in cap space and a roster spot for the Oilers. Kassian won't be back until mid-March at the earliest.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Suffers injury Wednesday

Kassian (upper body) will undergo further testing after leaving Wednesday's game versus the Blackhawks, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports. Kassian took a puck to the face in the second period and did not return. The 31-year-old will need to be evaluated further ahead of Friday's game versus the Islanders, so he can be considered day-to-day for now. Kyle Turris would likely enter the lineup if Kassian is forced to miss time.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Posts assist in win

Kassian logged an assist, two hits, seven PIM and a plus-3 rating in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Canadiens. Kassian was involved in some controversy Saturday after he bumped into Samuel Montembeault in the first period. He later fought Michael Pezzetta in the third period to answer for the incident. Kassian also snapped his three-game point drought with a helper on a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins goal. The 31-year-old Kassian is up to 14 points, 84 hits, 38 PIM, 37 shots on net and a plus-1 rating in 31 contests. With Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman as linemates, Kassian could be in a position to post stronger scoring numbers going forward.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Expected to play Tuesday

Kassian (illness) is slated to play in Tuesday's clash with the Canucks. Kassian was sidelined versus the Flames on Saturday due to a non-COVID-19 illness but appears to be no worse for the wear. With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (lower body) possibly returning as well, the duo looks poised to team up on the third line, giving the Oilers another scoring combination outside of their star-studded tandem at the top of the lineup.

  • Oilers' Zack Kassian: Tallies on power play

Kassian scored a power-play goal on two shots and added three hits in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Senators. Kassian got the Oilers on the board late in the first period. The 30-year-old winger saw a top-line assignment Saturday, with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl as his linemates. Kassian has picked up a goal and three assists in his last five outings in a variety of roles. Head coach Dave Tippett is likely to keep his forward groupings in a blender until the Oilers put an end to their six-game losing streak. Kassian could still see top-six minutes in the near term, giving him a boost despite a season stat line of 13 points, 77 hits, 31 shots and 31 PIM through 27 outings.

Kailer Yamamoto could be in line to see extra time on the ice as his potential replacement.
