  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Played through hip injury

Nurse played through a torn hip flexor this postseason, Ryan Rishaug of TSN.ca reports. Nurse missed the final four games of the regular season with a lower-body issue and it turns out the injury was fairly severe. He dressed in 15 of Edmonton's 16 playoff games, including Game 4 on Monday where he tallied an assist. It's currently unclear if the 27-year-old will need surgery to repair the injury, but more information on his recovery timeline should be available in the coming days.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Mixed results Saturday

Nurse recorded an assist, eight hits, two shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Avalanche in Game 3. Nurse started off well with the secondary assist on Connor McDavid's goal in the first minute. The 27-year-old defenseman was later involved in another goal-scoring play, but it was for the Avalanche, as Nurse tipped a Valeri Nichushkin pass into his own net. It hasn't been a great postseason for Nurse, who has five points, 26 shots on net, 34 hits, 31 blocked shots, 25 PIM and a plus-5 rating in 14 contests. Despite his struggles, he's expected to remain in a top-pairing role for Monday's must-win Game 4.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Suspended for Game 6

Nurse has received a one-game suspension for headbutting and will be ineligible to play in Thursday's Game 6 clash with the Kings. Nurse's absence will create a significant hole in the Oilers' blue line considering he's averaged 21:45 of ice time in the postseason. With Nurse unavailable, Evan Bouchard figures to see the biggest uptick in ice time while Kris Russell should step into the lineup for Game 6.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Likely facing suspension

Nurse will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Wednesday for headbutting Kings' Phillip Danault. At this point, Nurse should be expected to receive at least a one-game suspension. The blueliner is pointless in his last three contests during which he has managed just three shots on goal while dishing out six hits. With Nurse unlikely to be in the lineup for Game 6 against the Kings on Thursday, Kris Russell figures to suit up for the first time since Game 1 on May 2.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Game-time call

Nurse (lower body) will be a game-time decision against the Kings on Monday. Nurse was in his customary top-pairing role at Monday's morning skate, so it certainly appears as though he will be ready to go despite his official designation. In his prior 10 outings before suffering his lower-body injury, the veteran defenseman generated two goals, four assists and 22 shots while averaging 21:44 of ice time. While he's unlikely to ever be an elite fantasy option, Nurse has some offensive upside and can provide mid-range value.
