Kampf played under 10 minutes Monday against Chicago. It was nine minutes and change (9:19), which is odd for a guy who never played under 10 minutes a game in 82 appearances last season. Kampf also led all Maple Leafs' forwards in five-on-five defensive zone draws in 2022-23, but so far he's seen the fewest, which is odd for a defensive specialist. Kampf will likely never be a great fantasy option, but his play will positively impact the fantasy value of others. Toronto will work to settle its bottom six on the team's upcoming five-game road trip.... See More ... See Less

Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Staying with Leafs
Kampf agreed to a four-year, $9.6 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of TSN reports. Kampf had seven goals, 27 points, 107 shots, 74 hits and 29 blocks in 82 contests with Toronto in 2022-23. He's a solid bottom-six option, but at the age of 28, he shouldn't be expected to grow beyond that role. Kampf is coming off a two-year, $3 million contract and would have become an unrestricted free agent Saturday had he not re-signed with the Maple leafs.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Picks up helper
Kampf recorded an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Blue Jackets. Kampf recorded a point for the first time since March 23 versus the Panthers, a stretch of five games without a point. The Czech center remains stuck in a 16-game goal drought dating back to March 1 against Edmonton and put just 19 shots on net over that stretch. As such, fantasy players shouldn't be expecting much out of Kampf in the offensive end moving forward.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Garners assist
Kampf supplied an assist in Friday's 3-0 win over the Blue Jackets. Kampf isn't a popular fantasy option, but he's holding his own as a penalty-killing specialist on the third line. The 28-year-old has generated four goals and 13 assists -- including a pair of shorthanded apples -- through 53 games. Kampf will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Picks up assist in victory
Kampf earned an assist in Sunday's 5-1 drubbing of Washington. With his helper, Kampf brought a 12-game pointless streak to a close, though he remains goalless in 23 consecutive contests. Despite his recent slump, the 28-year-old winger should still be capable of reaching the 20-point threshold for the second straight season after registering a career-high 26 points last year.... Maple Leafs' David Kampf: First goal in 20 games
Kampf scored a goal Thursday in a 5-0 win over the Kings. He picked up the second goal in a second-period, three-goal flurry that spanned just 66 seconds. It was Kampf's first goal in 20 games, but he has quietly put up points in three of his last four contests. His 11 points in 28 games are a career-pace for Kampf, but it's not enough production for fantasy managers.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: More production than expected
Kampf registered an assist Friday in a 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Kampf is generating solid returns relative to his scant role. The Czech winger, who is consistently deployed on the penalty kill, finds himself with three goals and four assists through 15 games. In general, you won't find fantasy managers rushing to the waiver wire to scoop up fourth-liners like Kampf, but he's worth keeping an eye on as someone off to a career-best start.... See More ... Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Buries goal Thursday
Kampf scored a goal on four shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sharks. Kampf evened the score at 1-1 with his first-period tally. The fourth-liner has three goals and 10 shots through eight contests this year, so he's likely scoring well above his abilities. He's added eight hits and a minus-1 rating. Kampf can be useful depth for fantasy managers in deep formats, but his offense is unlikely to be consistent enough to help in standard pools.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Secures game-winning tally
Kampf scored his second goal of the season Saturday, fueling the Maple Leafs' 4-1 victory over the Jets. Kampf, who entered Saturday with three career game-winning goals, connected on a second-period tally that proved to be the difference. Kampf's previous clincher developed last season (Dec. 11) against the Blackhawks. The 27-year-old center three shots and two hits from the fourth line Saturday. Kampf scored a career-high 11 goals while appearing in all 82 games last season, his first with the Maple Leafs.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Back with team
Kampf (personal) has rejoined the team at training camp Wednesday, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports. Kampf -- who was away for personal reasons -- was skating with the non-game group meaning he won't suit up versus Montreal on Wednesday. In his first season with the Leafs, the 27-year-old winger appeared in all 82 games which saw him set career highs in goals (11), points (26) and ice time per game (15:16). Barring any lengthy injury absences, Kampf should be capable of putting up another 20-plus point season in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Absent for personal reasons
Kampf won't be at practice Monday while attending a personal matter, David Alter of Sports Illustrated reports. Kampf's absence is unlikely to impact his availability for Opening Night against Montreal, though the team hasn't provided any specifics on when Kampf might return. In the meantime, Denis Malgin is slated to see some minutes with John Tavares and William Nylander which could help him secure a spot on the 23-man roster. For his part, Kampf figures to fill a bottom-six role once back with the team.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Second goal in three playoff games
Kampf scored the game-winning goal Friday in a 5-2 victory over the Lightning in Game 3. He intercepted a pass near center ice and wired a shot from the high slot through Tampa Bay defenseman Zach Bogosian. Andrei Vasilevskiy had no chance to react because of the screen. Kampf now has two goals in three games this postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Fills empty cage
Kampf scored an empty-net goal and added two hits in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Islanders. Kampf ended a nine-game goal drought with his insurance tally in the third period. He was limited to just one assist in that span, as he remains a mostly defensive forward as part of the Maple Leafs' third line. The 27-year-old is up to a career-high 10 goals and 24 points with 90 shots on net, 74 hits and a plus-9 rating in 76 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: All defense, no offense
Kampf has gone without a point in nine games. He has just one assist in his last 13 and certainly isn't covering many categories (94 faceoff wins, 18 shots and 15 hits in those games). But Kampf is best used in a defensive role, so his on-ice impact will always be greater than his fantasy contributions.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Logs helper
Kampf produced an assist in Monday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jackets. Kampf helped out on an Ilya Mikheyev goal in the first period. The assist ended Kampf's three-game skid on offense. The 27-year-old Czech native has been a fairly consistent presence on the scoresheet despite a third-line role. He's up to a career-high 21 points with 67 shots on net, 48 hits and a plus-7 rating through 56 appearances. While he doesn't see power-play time often, he's picked up four of his points shorthanded this season.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Supplies two points in wild victory
Kampf produced a goal and an assist in Saturday's 10-7 win over the Red Wings. Kampf signed on with the Maple Leafs after four seasons with the Blackhawks, and the move has paid off for the bottom-six forward so far. He's already set a career high in points with eight goals and 12 assists -- including two goals and another pair of helpers shorthanded -- through 52 games.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Deposits shorthanded goal
Kampf scored a shorthanded goal on two shots and added two PIM in Monday's 6-2 win over the Kraken. Kampf converted on a feed from Mitch Marner at 3:37 of the third period. This was Kampf's second shorthanded point of the season, and he snapped a three-game point drought Monday. The Czech forward is up to 15 points, 53 shots, 16 PIM, 43 hits and a plus-8 rating through 46 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Two multi-point games in last three
Kampf had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Devils. Kampf scored the third of Toronto's four unanswered first-period markers before assisting on Michael Bunting's second-period tally. Two of Kampf's three multi-point performances this season have come in the last three games.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Contributes pair of assists
Kampf logged two assists and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Red Wings. Kampf had a hand in the first of Michael Bunting's three goals in the contest. The 27-year-old Kampf also set up John Tavares' empty-netter in the final minute. The two-assist effort ended an eight-game point drought for Kampf, who has gone quiet on offense lately. The bottom-six forward has produced 12 points, 48 shots on net, 38 hits and a plus-6 rating in 40 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' David Kampf: Comes up empty
Kampf fired four shots in a 6-3 loss to the Rangers on Wednesday. Kampf has not scored a goal since his strike against Chicago on Dec. 11. In the eight games since that goal, he has two assists and 11 shots. Kampf has seen a slight uptick in scoring in his first season in Toronto with 10 points across 37 contests.... See More ...
