  • Cliff Pu: Slated for free agency

Pu is set to become a free agent after the Blue Jackets failed to issue him a qualifying offer Monday, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports. Pu put up decent numbers with AHL Cleveland this season, as he tallied 10 points in 16 appearances. Selected by the Sabres in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft, the 23-year-old winger has been traded three times but has yet to get into an NHL contest despite spending time in the systems of Buffalo, Carolina, Florida and Columbus.

  • Blue Jackets' Cliff Pu: Dropped to AHL affiliate

Pu was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Tuesday. Pu has yet to make his NHL debut, and with just six games remaining for the Blue Jackets in 2020-21, it appears as though he may not do so this season. He's picked up four helpers through eight AHL appearances this year.

  • Blue Jackets' Cliff Pu: Added to taxi squad

Pu was recalled to the taxi squad from AHL Cleveland on Monday. Pu will take the taxi squad spot vacated by Gavin Bayreuther, who was added to the main roster in a corresponding move. The 22-year-old winger has four assists in eight AHL appearances this season and is yet to make his NHL debut.

  • Blue Jackets' Cliff Pu: Swapped in one-for-one deal

Pu was brought in by the Blue Jackets from the Panthers on Thursday in exchange for Markus Nutivaara. In two seasons since going pro, Pu has split time between the AHL and ECHL but is still awaiting his first opportunity with a big club. Selected by the Sabres in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft, this will be Pu's fourth organization as he's been moved multiple times. At this point, fantasy players shouldn't be expecting Pu to log significant time in the NHL and figures to be a non-factor in fantasy contests.

  • Panthers' Cliff Pu: Development stalls out

Pu has six points in four games with the Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL. Being traded for "future considerations" is never a great look for a player, and Pu hasn't shown much since being acquired for such by the Panthers in February 2019. He has bounced from the ECHL to the AHL and back to the ECHL, only managing to skate in seven games combined this season.

  • Hurricanes' Cliff Pu: Dealt to Carolina

The Sabres traded Pu, a 2019 second-round pick, a 2020 third-round pick and a 2020 sixth-round pick to the Hurricanes in exchange for Jeff Skinner on Thursday. It's been no secret that the Hurricanes have been looking to move Skinner this offseason, and the Sabres make a lot of sense in terms of a landing spot for the 26-year-old forward, as Jack Eichel will finally get to play with a high-end scoring threat on his wing. Pu, the only player going the other way in this deal, has posted impressive numbers in the OHL over the past two seasons, totaling 64 goals and 170 points in 128 contests. The 20-year-old pivot will likely spend the majority of the 2018-19 campaign with AHL Charlotte, but he could push for a middle-six role with the big club in 2019-20.
