Lorentz scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Stars. Lorentz has two goals over eight appearances in January, doubling his point total from December. The 26-year-old's tally midway through Wednesday's game sparked a run of five unanswered goals from the Sharks in their impressive comeback win. Lorentz has five tallies, three assists, 58 shots on net, 70 hits and a minus-10 rating through 44 contests in a fourth-line role this season.... See More ... See Less

Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Pots goal Friday
Lorentz scored a goal on two shots, blocked two shots and added four PIM in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks. Lorentz entered Friday on a nine-game point drought since his last goal, which also came against the Ducks on Dec. 9. The 26-year-old is up to four tallies, three helpers, 51 shots on net, 58 hits, 12 PIM and a minus-8 rating through 38 contests. He's played regularly in a fourth-line role this season, but he hasn't produced enough in any area to be particularly helpful for fantasy managers.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Buries goal after one-game absence
Lorentz scored a goal on four shots and added three hits in Friday's 6-1 win over the Ducks. Lorentz missed one game due to an illness, but he was able to score an insurance marker in his return. The 26-year-old had gone 11 contests without a point prior to missing Wednesday's game. He's up to three goals, three assists, 41 shots on net, 46 hits and a minus-7 rating through 28 appearances, primarily as a fourth-liner.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Good to play Friday
Lorentz (illness) will rejoin the Sharks on Friday versus Anaheim, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now. Lorentz missed Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to Vancouver. He has two goals and five points in 27 games this season. He's projected to play on the fourth line with Jonah Gadjovich and Oskar Lindblom.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Sitting out Wednesday
Lorentz (illness) won't play Wednesday versus the Canucks, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. The Sharks have had a flu bug floating around the locker room, and it'll cost Lorentz at least one game. C.J. Suess will replace Lorentz in the lineup Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Scores second goal of 2022-23
Lorentz contributed a goal in San Jose's 3-2 shootout win against Minnesota on Sunday. It was Lorentz's second goal and fifth point in 16 games this season. He's recorded a point in consecutive contests, but Lorentz is a bottom-six forward who shouldn't be expected to score with any regularity.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Grabs helper Friday
Lorentz logged an assist and two hits in Friday's 5-4 win over the Kraken. Lorentz sat out the last game as a healthy scratch amid a six-game point drought. It looks like he got the message that was sent, as he helped out on an Evgeny Svechnikov goal in the first period Friday. Lorentz has one tally, three assists, 24 shots on net, 25 hits and a minus-2 rating while playing mainly in a fourth-line role this season. That production won't generate much fantasy interest, but it appears he's going to be in the lineup more often than not.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Deposits goal in Sunday's win
Lorentz scored a goal and added four hits in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Flyers. Lorentz ended a three-game point drought with his first tally of the year. The 26-year-old opened the season in a middle-six role, but he was on the fourth line Sunday amid his scoring slump. He has three points, 11 shots on net, 11 hits, five blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through eight contests. Lorentz is unlikely to be put in a position to post significant offense, so he's mostly a non-factor in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Logs first helper
Lorentz produced an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Lorentz led all Sharks forwards with 17:51 of ice time. He also earned his second assist of the year on an Erik Karlsson tally. Lorentz came over from the Hurricanes in a trade at the start of free agency. He's added seven shots, six hits and four blocked shots while playing in a top-six role, though he may just be a placeholder until Alexander Barabanov (lower body) returns.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Re-signs with San Jose
Lorentz signed a two-year contract extension with the Sharks on Friday. Lorentz drew into 67 games with Carolina last season, picking up eight goals and 13 points while averaging 10:53 of ice time per contest. The 26-year-old forward will likely put up similar numbers while skating in a bottom-six role with San Jose in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Sharks' Steven Lorentz: Headed out West
Lorentz was sent to San Jose from Carolina along with Eetu Makiniemi and a conditional 2023 third-round pick in a swap for Brent Burns and Lane Pederson on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports. Lorentz put together a solid sophomore campaign for the Hurricanes this season, setting new personal bests in games (67), goals (eight) and points (13). Not exactly an offensive dynamo, the 26-year-old Ontario native figures to slot into a bottom-six role but could push for an increased role on the rebuilding Sharks.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Rare goal in Saturday's win
Lorentz snapped a 13-game pointless streak with his seventh goal of the season in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Flyers. Lorentz isn't seeing much ice time these days -- his average TOI over the last seven games is just 9:10 -- but that's to be expected when you're playing on the fourth line. While it's nice to see him get back on the scoresheet, an offensive outburst is not likely to happen anytime soon.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Logs assist Monday
Lorentz posted an assist and four hits in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs. Lorentz helped out on a Derek Stepan goal in the third period as the fourth line got involved on offense. Seven of Lorentz's 10 points this season have come in the last 13 games. He's added 45 shots on net, 45 hits and a plus-1 rating in 39 contests overall, though his scoring contributions are likely to be sporadic while he remains in a fourth-line role.... See More ... Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Enjoying scoring run
Lorentz posted an assist in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rangers, giving him six points in his last eight games. Not bad for a bottom-six guy who is averaging just 11:05 in ice time this season, although his TOI has seen a positive bump lately to 14:14 in his last five games. The Canes are a deep team this year, and they're currently getting offensive contributions from up and down the lineup. In Lorentz's case, he had just eight points in 45 games last season, and he's already surpassed that mark in just 33 points this year with six goals and three assists. His future looks pretty bright in Raleigh right now.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Dishes pair of assists
Lorentz registered two assists, two shots on net and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 6-3 win over the Flames. Lorentz set up Derek Stepan's go-ahead goal in the second period and also logged a helper on a Brady Skjei marker in the third. This was Lorentz's second straight multi-point game after he scored twice versus the Blue Jackets on Jan 1. The 25-year-old is up to five goals, two assists, 36 shots on net, 28 hits and a plus-4 rating in 28 games, mainly playing in a fourth-line role.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Sparks huge comeback Saturday
Lorentz scored two goals in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jackets. Columbus actually jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second period before Lorentz finally got Carolina on the board, but once the 'Canes offense began rolling there was no stopping it. The 25-year-old grinder added an insurance tally in the third to give him his first multi-goal performance in the NHL, and he now has five points (all goals) in 27 games on the season.... Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Exits protocols, practices Sunday
Lorentz has exited the COVID-19 protocols and was spotted in practice Sunday, according to Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer. Lorentz was one of five Carolina players that exited the COVID-19 protocols this weekend, and the fact that he was able to skate Sunday is certainly a good sign for his availability ahead of Thursday's game against Montreal. He has racked up three goals and no assists across 25 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Lands on COVID-19 list
Lorentz was placed in COVID-19 protocols Tuesday. Lorentz joins several of his teammates on the COVID-19 list Tuesday. The Hurricanes' tilt with Minnesota on Tuesday was postponed and, at this rate, more postponements could be on the way. For now, the team is set to face Detroit on Thursday.... See More ... Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Benched Saturday
Lorentz sat out Saturday's game against the Kings as a healthy scratch. This should not come as much of a surprise, as Lorentz played just 7:46 his last time out -- his second-lowest ice time of the season. Furthermore, with red-hot rookie Seth Jarvis currently on a three-game goal-scoring streak, it could be a while before Lorentz finds his way back into the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Steven Lorentz: Pots lone goal in loss
Lorentz scored a goal on two shots in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Flyers. Lorentz opened the scoring at 11:14 of the second period, but that was the only one of 40 shots on net to beat Carter Hart. The 25-year-old Lorentz played on the third line with Nino Niederreiter (lower body) on injured reserve. Through 12 appearances, Lorentz has two goals, 13 shots, 12 hits and a plus-3 rating, mainly as a bottom-six option.... See More ... See Less
