Stephens, who signed a one-year contract with the Crunch in July, collected three goals, five assists and 58 PIM in 50 contests with AHL Tucson last campaign. Stephens was placed on waivers by the Canucks on Monday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports. Canucks' Devante Stephens: Signs with Vancouver
Stephens signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks on Wednesday. The 24-year-old defenseman registered 11 points in 26 games with AHL Syracuse and another six points in 16 outings with ECHL Orlando. Devante Stephens: Non-tendered by Lightning
Stephens did not receive a qualifying offer from the Lightning and will become a UFA on Friday. Stephens started 2019-20 with ECHL Cincinnati in the Sabres organization before he was traded to the Lightning in exchange for Matthew Spencer in November. Stephens went on to play in 38 games with AHL Syracuse after the swap, recording six assists in that span. A fifth-round pick from 2015, Stephens has yet to make his NHL debut. Lightning's Devante Stephens: Shipped to Tampa Bay
Stephens was traded to the Lightning from the Sabres in exchange for Matt Spencer on Sunday. Stephens has an assist in three games with ECHL Cincinnati this season and will likely report to Tampa Bay's ECHL Orlando affiliate.
