  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Inks one-year extension

Bryson signed a one-year, $900,000 contract extension with Buffalo on Thursday. That means Bryson will earn the same salary in 2025-26 as he has been for this campaign. The 27-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer before inking his new deal. Bryson has seven assists, nine hits and 47 blocks in 42 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Draws assist

Bryson produced an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Golden Knights. Bryson was injured Wednesday versus the Red Wings but didn't miss a game. The 27-year-old blueliner is competing for time on the third pairing and could be scratched at some point to allow the Sabres to get a look at trade acquisition Jacob Bernard-Docker. Bryson has not performed at a fantasy-relevant level in most formats, collecting seven helpers, 18 shots on net, 46 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 41 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Good to go against Vegas

Bryson (upper body) will play versus the Golden Knights on Saturday, according to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Bryson won't miss any playing time despite suffering an injury in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Detroit. He has provided six assists, 16 shots on goal, 46 blocked shots and nine hits across 40 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Suffers injury Wednesday

Bryson suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday's game versus the Red Wings, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. The injury occurred on a hit by Michael Rasmussen in the third period, leading to increased hostilities in an already chippy game. Bryson ended up with 16:16 of ice time after failing to return to the contest. The 27-year-old's status is up in the air for Saturday's game versus the Golden Knights, and if Jacob Bernard-Docker (not injury related) is not eligible to play either, the Sabres may need to make a move for a defenseman.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Picks up rare assist

Bryson notched an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Canadiens. Bryson had been scratched for three games prior to Saturday. He had also gone five contests without a point before his trip to the press box. The 27-year-old's playing-time outlook could improve if the Sabres trade away a blueliner, namely Henri Jokiharju, prior to Friday's deadline. For the season, Bryson has five helpers, 13 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 34 appearances in a part-time role.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Nabs helper in loss

Bryson recorded an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers. Bryson had gone seven games without a point and also missed six contests (two due to illness, four as a healthy scratch) in that span. He's been in a part-time role all season and typically plays on the third pairing when in the lineup. The 27-year-old blueliner has four assists, nine shots on net, 10 PIM and 33 blocked shots over 28 contests. A limited role and minimal offense combine to make Bryson a non-factor in fantasy.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Returns to practice

Bryson (illness) attended Thursday's practice but is not projected to be in the lineup versus the Senators, Justin Alpert of the Sabres' official site reports. Bryson had missed two games due to the illness, but his presence at practice indicates he is now healthy enough to play if necessary. He has three assists, eight shots on net and 31 blocked shots across 24 appearances this season. Bryson has not held a full-time spot in the lineup since early December.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Not playing Monday

Bryson (illness) will not be available Monday versus the Capitals, according to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Bryson will miss his second straight game due to the illness. • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Contributes assist

Bryson notched an assist, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues. Bryson has earned two helpers over the last three games. The 26-year-old has played in six straight contests and continues to hold the upper hand over Henri Jokiharju and Connor Clifton for a top-four spot. Bryson won't be a factor on the power play and likely won't add much offense, but he looks to be a lineup regular moving forward.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Picks up first helper of season

Bryson notched an assist and three blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flames. Bryson didn't play in October, but he's been in the lineup in each of the last four games after head coach Lindy Ruff scratched Mattias Samuelsson and Henri Jokiharju. Over his four appearances, Bryson has one assist, 10 blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-2 rating, and the Sabres have given up just six goals. He'll likely remain in a bottom-four role as long as he's in the lineup, but he could head back to the press box as soon as his play slips.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Regular presence in press box

Bryson hasn't played in any of the Sabres' first 11 games of the season. Bryson signed a one-year deal with the Sabres on July 1 after he didn't receive a qualifying offer from the organization. The 26-year-old defenseman is with the big club as injury insurance, but he appears to be No. 8 on the depth chart, and that's led to him receiving no game action with the team's defense corps staying healthy in October. Bryson could push Connor Clifton for a spot on the third pairing, though Dennis Gilbert is also in the mix to play if head coach Lindy Ruff shuffles up his defense.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Inks one-year pact

Bryson signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with Buffalo on Monday. Bryson played in a mere 36 games for Buffalo last season, notching one goal, seven assists and 15 shots on net while averaging 14:41 of ice time. The 26-year-old blueliner is far from a lock for the lineup on a nightly basis and could spend significant chunks of the season serving as a healthy scratch.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Two helpers in loss

Bryson recorded a pair of assists in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Senators. Bryson was involved in both of Buffalo's second-period goals, setting up John-Jason Peterka's tally early in the frame before adding a second assist on a Connor Clifton marker. It's just the second multi-point game this season for Bryson, who had one point (an assist) in seven games prior to Wednesday. Overall, the 26-year-old blueliner has eight points (one goal, seven assists) through 27 games in a bottom-pairing role.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Assigned to minors

Bryson was sent to AHL Rochester on Saturday. Bryson, who has played in only three games this season, hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 4 against Toronto. If he stays in the minors for a bit, he should get some much-needed playing time. Bryson had nine points, 27 shots on goal, 69 blocked shots and 34 hits in 59 appearances with the Sabres during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Designated for waivers

Bryson was waived by the Sabres on Monday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports. Bryson's waiving comes after the blueliner served as a healthy scratch for the last 20 games. With Jack Quinn (Achilles) expected to return soon, waiving Bryson will provide Buffalo with the necessary roster opening. Bryson should see significantly more minutes with AHL Rochester if he clears waivers.

Bryson has been a healthy scratch for the first two games of the 2023-24 season. In 59 games last season, Bryson chipped in one goal, eight assists, 69 blocked shots and 34 hits. However, he has begun the 2023-24 campaign as Buffalo's seventh defenseman. Barring injuries, the 25-year-old defender could be sitting in the press box for a while.
