Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Sent down Wednesday
Holmstrom was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, Stefen Rosner of NYI Hockey Now reports. Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Pots fourth NHL goal, second GWG
Holmstrom scored his fourth goal in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Jets. The 2019 first-round pick hasn't been all that productive to begin his NHL career, but Holmstrom has displayed some ability to score in the clutch. Holmstrom has only four goals and one assist through 33 games as a rookie, but half of his goals have been game-winners. He potted the winner in this one, breaking a 1-1 tie halfway through the third period.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: One assist this season
Holmstrom only has three goals, one assist, and a rating of minus-1 in 28 games this season. While it may be unfair to expect Holmstrom to be lighting up the scoreboard in his rookie season, it's safe to say more than one apple was expected from one of the team's top offensive rookies. Holmstrom rarely plays on one of the top two lines, which contributes to his lack of offensive success, but how can coach Lane Lambert justify moving him up to a scoring line when he isn't producing? It's the old chicken or the egg conundrum. Do you wait for him to produce before moving him up, or hope by moving him up, he will produce? The team isn't likely to have the patience to wait for him to figure it out offensively.... See More ... See Less -

The first-round pick from 2019 has bounced around the lineup a bit while picking up two points, six shots and an even plus-minus rating through his first 11 contests with the Islanders. Islanders' Simon Holmstrom: Less than impressive
Holmstrom has yet to score a goal and has only has one assist in nine games since being recalled from the AHL. The Islanders are still waiting for one of their top offensive prospects to make his mark and prove he belongs in the NHL. If that doesn't happen by the time Kyle Palmieri (upper body) and Anthony Beauvillier (shoulder) are ready to return from their injuries, Holmstrom will likely find himself headed back to the AHL.... Kevin Kurz@KKurzNHL4D agoOne little sequence I noticed. After Horvat had that chance on the feed from Holmstrom, he slammed the door a bit hard after going back to the bench. Lee, sitting next to him, gave him a little tap on the shoulder. Perhaps a bit frustration with 1 goal in last 10 games
