  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Proves too much for Kraken

Seider produced a power-play goal to complement six blocked shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kraken. Seider found an open lane and unleashed a wicked slap shot for the game's first goal. The German defenseman is up to seven goals and 30 total points through 55 contests of his third season, and half of that offensive total has taken place on the man advantage. After factoring in his 123 hits and 134 blocked shots, Seider is as complete of a defenseman as you can find in the league today.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Contributes heavily in shutout

Seider registered two assists -- including a power-play helper -- to complement three hits and five blocked shots in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Flames. Seider set up a one-timer to Patrick Kane on the man advantage to open the scoring in the contest, and the puck-moving defenseman capped it off with the lone helper on the game's final goal, a third-period wrist shot courtesy of Lucas Raymond. The Wings actually posted a minus-17 shot differential in this one, but Seider hustled on defense to help goalie James Reimer secure the shutout. Seider is up to six goals, 23 assists and 15 power-play points through 54 games.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Slides power-play assist

Seider notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Oilers. Seider has four points over his last five outings, picking up the pace on offense after a lackluster January. The 22-year-old defenseman is up to 27 points (14 on the power play), 87 shots on net, 107 hits, 121 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 52 appearances. He's on a similar pace to 2022-23, when he racked up 42 points in 82 contests, though that's still noticeably below his 50-point rookie campaign.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Reaches milestone for assists

Seider collected two assists -- including a power-play helper -- in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. Seider's knack for setting up plays was on full display against Vegas, and he's up to 20 assists for the campaign and 100 total apples between his two and a half seasons in the NHL. At this rate, Seider will come close to matching the 21 power-play points that he earned on the path to becoming the Calder Trophy winner in 2021-22.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Ends slump with helper

Seider notched an assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Ducks. Seider ended a five-game drought when he set up Michael Rasmussen's game-winning goal late in the third period. The 22-year-old Seider had eight points over 15 contests in December, playing well in a top-four role as usual. He's at 23 points, 71 shots on net, 73 hits, 90 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 40 outings overall. While it's solid all-around production, Seider has yet to really grow on offense from his 50-point effort as a rookie in 2021-22.

Seider notched two assists, including one on the power play, while adding three blocked shots, a shot on net and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 7-6 shootout win over the Flyers. After setting up Daniel Sprong on the man advantage in the first period, Seider collected a helper on Dylan Larkin's tying goal late in the third. Seider has ceded his spot on the top power-play unit to Shayne Gostisbehere for the moment, but he's still been productive lately with three goals and nine points over the last 13 games.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Powers up in shutout

Seider lit the lamp on the power play in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Devils. Seider hadn't scored since Oct. 14, and his latest tally snapped a five-game points drought, but with two goals and 10 assists, the German defenseman remains on pace for a career-best campaign. He also has 39 hits and 43 blocked shots to illustrate his two-way profile.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Remains physical amid point drought

Playing in Sweden for the NHL Global Series, Seider recorded three hits, five blocked shots and six PIM in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. The Red Wings have lost four of their last five games, and Seider hasn't been able to pick up a point over that stretch. He appeared to be a bit frustrated in the latest contest, as he committed cross-checking, roughing and tripping penalties on the way to a narrow loss in Stockholm. The fiery power-play quarterback's next chance to break out of his offensive slump will not come until Wednesday versus the Devils.

Seider posted his fourth multi-point game of the season and is currently one point shy of the Rangers' Adam Fox for the league lead among defensemen. While the 22-year-old Seider has scored just one goal, he continues to rack up helpers and is well on pace to get over the 40-assist mark for the second time in three NHL seasons.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Two helpers in Saturday's win

Seider notched two power-play assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Senators. Veteran free-agent signing Shayne Gostisbehere has been the biggest contributor off the blue line for the Red Wings in the early going, but Seider's been no slouch either, racking up a goal and five points in five games with three of the helpers coming on the power play. After seeing his scoring take a small step back as a sophomore in 2022-23, the 22-year-old looks poised to top the seven goals and 50 points he delivered in his Calder Trophy-winning rookie campaign.

Seider scored a goal and added an assist in a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay on Saturday. The goal went into an empty net. Seider is coming off a 42-point sophomore campaign and is looking to build on the success of his 50-point rookie year. The offseason arrivals of Jeff Petry and Shayne Gostisbehere should help alleviate some of the pressure on Seider to do too much. He's off to a good start.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Shines on special teams Sunday

Seider scored his first career shorthanded goal and added a power-play assist in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Bruins. Both points came in the second period, helping the Red Wings build a 4-0 lead they managed not to squander. Seider recorded his first multi-point performance since Feb. 11 in the process, and the second-year blueliner has five goals and 35 points through 66 games on the season. The sixth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft still possesses elite upside that could someday have him challenging for Norris Trophies, but those days haven't yet arrived.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Sets up power-play goal

Seider managed a power-play assist and four hits in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders. Seider has just one goal and two assists over the past 10 games, but the electrifying two-way defenseman continues to play his heart out. He amassed four blocked shots and eight hits in Tuesday's loss to the Senators and followed it up with four more blocked shots and seven hits in the ensuing contest against the Kraken. While GM Steve Yzerman made a series of moves at the trade deadline, it was clear all along that Seider -- last year's Calder Trophy winner -- wasn't going anywhere.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Eleven points in last nine games

Seider collected three assists Thursday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Canadiens. One helper came on the power play. The season started slowly for the wunderkind (13 points in 38 games), but he's gotten hot in his last nine games (one goal, 10 assists). If he can keep this up, Seider will be a sneaky fantasy play over the second half.

The 21-year-old defenseman is up to 20 points (eight on the power play), 70 shots on net, 99 hits, 102 blocked shots and a minus-14 rating through 43 contests. • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Explodes for four points

Seider posted four assists and three shots, leading the Red Wings to a 7-5 win over the Jets on Tuesday. The first star of Tuesday's contest, Seider picked up assists on all three Red Wing goals in the first period and Dylan Larkin's power-play goal in the second period. While the German defenseman has been a disappointment in the points department to start the 2022-23 campaign, Tuesday's performance could be the spark that sets off a strong second half. Seider is now up to two goals and 17 points in 39 games.
