  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Nets both goals in loss

Gustafsson scored two goals in AHL Manitoba's 5-2 loss to Laval on Sunday. Gustafsson began the NHL season on the Jets' roster but was waived Thursday to make room for Jonathan Toews' return from an undisclosed injury. This was Gustafsson's first stint in the AHL since 2023-24, as he was able to spend all of 2024-25 in a part-time NHL role that saw him produce six points over 36 regular-season appearances. He'll be near the top of the list of call-ups should the Jets need reinforcements this season.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Placed on waivers

Gustafsson was placed on waivers by the Jets on Thursday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports. Gustafsson made 36 regular-season appearances for the Jets last year, recording two goals, four assists, 19 hits and 18 blocked shots while averaging 8:59 of ice time. However, he'll land on waivers ahead of Thursday's Opening Night matchup against the Stars since Jonathan Toews (undisclosed) is slated to be activated by the Jets.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Nets goal in blowout loss

Gustafsson scored a goal in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Blues in Game 3. Gustafsson ended an eight-game point drought with the third-period tally. It briefly brought the Jets within two goals, but the Blues continued their barrage of goals less than a minute later. Gustafsson had just six points in 36 regular-season outings, and his place in the lineup isn't secure once the Jets are closer to full health at forward.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Gets on scoresheet with goal

Gustafsson scored a goal in Friday's 4-0 win over the Devils. Gustafsson's point drought was only six games, but he had been scratched 11 times in that span. The 24-year-old drew back into the lineup since Rasmus Kupari (concussion) is experiencing symptoms from an earlier injury. Gustafsson will likely remain on the fourth line until the Jets get Kupari or Gabriel Vilardi (upper body) back. For the season, Gustafsson has two goals, six points, a plus-10 rating, 27 shots on net, 18 hits and 18 blocked shots over 30 appearances.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Most ice time all month

Gustafsson logged 11:41 of ice time and recorded three shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-1 win against the Senators. The Jets took an early lead and dominated the flow of the game, allowing the fourth line to get some extended run. Gustafsson's nearly 12 minutes on the ice was his most in a game in the entire month of February and just his eighth above 10 minutes in the calendar year. His three shots on goal were his most in a game all season. That being said, the 2018 second-round draft pick has just one point in his last seven games, so his fantasy value remains limited.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Posts assist Tuesday

Gustafsson notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Hurricanes. Gustafsson has found some success lately with a goal and four assists over his last seven outings. That's all of his offense through 23 appearances this season, and he's added 21 shots on net, 16 hits, 14 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating. Gustafsson fills a fourth-line role and is unlikely to produce enough in any one area to help most fantasy managers.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Garners helper in win

Gustafsson logged an assist in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Flames. Gustafsson has earned a point in three straight games after opening the season scoreless over 16 appearances. The 24-year-old center helped out on a Kyle Connor tally in the first period of this contest. Gustafsson has one goal, two helpers, 17 shots on net, 14 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 19 outings. Don't expect his success on offense to last much longer.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Lights lamp in win

Gustafsson scored a goal and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-2 win over Utah. Gustafsson has a goal and an assist over his last two outings after failing to get on the scoresheet in his first 16 games of the season. He's added 17 shots on net, 13 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 18 appearances. Gustafsson looks set to stay in a fourth-line role for now while Rasmus Kupari has moved up to center the third line in the absence of Adam Lowry (upper body).

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Supplies assist Wednesday

Gustafsson recorded an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche. The helper was Gustafsson's first point of the season. The 24-year-old has played in 17 games, adding 16 shots on net, 13 hits, nine blocked shots, seven PIM and a plus-1 rating. When the Jets are at full health, he might be at risk of sitting out as a healthy scratch, but he should be safe to handle bottom-six minutes while Adam Lowry (upper body) is out of action.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Off injured reserve

Gustafsson (concussion) was taken off injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site. Gustafsson has missed Winnipeg's past four games. Although he's now an option to draw into the lineup, Gustafsson will probably spend most games in the press box. He has no points, five PIM, four shots and four hits in three appearances with the Jets while averaging 7:55 of ice time this campaign.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Designated for IR

Gustafsson (concussion) was placed on injured reserve by Winnipeg on Wednesday, per the NHL media site. Gustafsson has already missed three games after suffering his concussion, meaning he can be activated at any time. The 24-year-old center has logged a mere three games this season, generating four hits, four shots and five PIM while averaging 7:55 of ice time.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Suffers injury in fight

Gustafsson (undisclosed) left Tuesday's game versus the Bruins after a third-period fight against Trent Frederic, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports. It wasn't a fair fight -- Frederic is an experienced pugilist, while this was Gustafsson's first career fight. Gustafsson came away in bad shape and didn't return to the game after his major penalty was over. His status for Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights and beyond has yet to be determined, but it seems likely Rasmus Kupari will be drawing back in to center the fourth line.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Can't break into lineup

Gustafsson has played just one of the Jets' first 21 games of 2024-25. Gustafsson was dealing with a lower-body injury early on, but he was cleared to play Oct. 20. That was his lone appearance -- the 17-4-0 Jets have opted to stick with what works amid a fantastic start to the campaign. Barring injuries or a team-wide slump, it doesn't look like Gustafsson will be seeing much playing time this season.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Suiting up Sunday

Gustafsson (lower body) will play Sunday against Pittsburgh, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press. Gustafsson will make his season debut after missing the first four games. He will replace Rasmus Kupari in Sunday's lineup. The 24-year-old Gustafsson registered three goals, seven points, 27 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and 30 hits across 39 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Remains unavailable Friday

Gustafsson (lower body) will not be an option versus the Sharks on Friday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports. Gustafsson has yet to get into the lineup for the Jets this season due to his lingering lower-body problem. The forward has been practicing with the team, so it's possible he's recovered from his injury concern but just hasn't earned a spot in the lineup yet. Still, Gustafsson should see some minutes sooner rather than later.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Not playing Sunday

Gustafsson (lower body) won't be in the lineup Sunday versus Minnesota. Gustafsson will miss his third straight contest to begin the 2024-25 campaign. Winnipeg will be off until Friday against San Jose, giving him additional time to recover, but Gustafsson could serve as a healthy scratch once he is available to return.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Still out Friday

Gustafsson (lower body) won't play Friday versus the Blackhawks, Murat Ares of The Athletic reports. Gustafsson will miss a second straight game to begin the season after sustaining an injury late in the preseason. The Jets will roll out a lineup that's unchanged from their season-opening 6-0 win over the Oilers on Wednesday. Gustafsson's next chance to draw in is Sunday against the Wild.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Not suiting up

Gustafsson (lower body) won't play Wednesday versus the Oilers, Murat Ares of The Athletic reports. Gustafsson is not a lock to play on a regular basis anyway, so it may be difficult to know when he's recovered from his injury. When the 24-year-old is able to play, he'll likely be limited to a fourth-line role. The Jets' fourth line will consist of Morgan Barron, Rasmus Kupari and Alex Iafallo in Wednesday's season opener in Edmonton.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Inks two-year deal

Gustafsson signed a two-year, $1.67 million contract with the Jets on Saturday. Gustafsson had three goals and seven points in 39 regular-season appearances in 2023-24 for the Jets. The Swedish native also picked up three helpers in six AHL regular-season games with Manitoba. Gustafsson will probably occupy a bottom-six spot with Winnipeg in the upcoming campaign.

  • Jets' David Gustafsson: Opens scoring in loss

Gustafsson scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Avalanche in Game 2. Gustafsson tallied at 3:15 of the first period. He's picked up two goals and two assists over his last five contests, but his chances of sustaining that kind of scoring pace will be low as long as he's in a fourth-line role. The 24-year-old had a career-high seven points in 39 regular-season appearances this year.
