WWE SmackDown live updates, results and grades as John Cena celebrates his career one night before retirement
Cena makes his last WWE appearance on SmackDown one night before his last match
John Cena will retire in 24 hours. Cena makes the penultimate stop of his farewell tour on WWE SmackDown, one night before his retirement match against The Last Time is Now Tournament winner Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Cena will be in the building on Friday night for his final appearance on SmackDown as an active wrestler. WWE has advertised a celebration honoring his nearly quarter-century run with the company, which saw him become its only recognized 17-time world champion.
Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes also makes an appearance before his match on Saturday against NXT champion Oba Femi. Their match is part of Cena's request to pair the main roster stars of today against NXT's stars of tomorrow.
Two matches are advertised for SmackDown: Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley reunite against Aleister Black and Zelina Vega, and United States champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Tommaso Ciampa.
CBS Sports is with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
