LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) Julian Eleby scored a season-high 31 points and VMI beat Charleston Southern 88-83 on Tuesday night to snap a six-game skid.

Eleby was 9 of 13 from the floor, made five three-pointers and all eight free-throw attempts. QJ Peterson had 17 points, and Keith Smith and Adrian Rich added 15 points apiece for VMI (2-7), which shot 12 of 25 for 48 percent from 3-point range, and 87 percent from the line on 26-of-30 shooting.

Armel Potter scored 22 points for Charleston Southern (4-5). Christian Keeling added 17 points.

The Keydets led 74-72 with 3:32 to play. Eleby made a 3-pointer and two free throws, and Smith added four free throws and VMI stretched its lead to 83-77 with 28 seconds left.

Raemond Robinson missed a 3 for the Buccaneers and the Keydets made 5 of 6 free throws to seal it.

VMI has won three of their last five games against Charleston Southern.
