Delaware State fires head coach Greg Jackson

And the coaching carousel has begun. In a cold way.

Delaware State fired head coach Greg Jackson on Thursday, the school announced in a statement.

Assistant coach Keith Walker will be the interim head coach for the rest of the season, while the school searches for a replacement.

Jackson had been the head coach of the Hornets since 2000, and he finishes his career at Delaware State with 200 wins. That total is one shy of the school record, set by Bennie George, who won 201 games between 1949 and 1971.

DSU is 4-15 this season, 0-6 and at the bottom of the MEAC heading into Saturday's showdown with Morgan State.

The Hornets won three MEAC regular-season championships in Jackson's tenure, going to the school's first-ever NCAA tournament in 2005.
