It turns out that Sheriron Jones didn't really transfer to Colorado as much as he went on a vacation of sorts.

Colorado announced Friday that Jones has been released from his scholarship, and that he's free to return to Tennessee. Jones announced that he was transferring from Tennessee to Colorado earlier this month.

"My job is to work with the whole person," said Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre in a statement about Jones. "Each player is unique and comes with unique needs and concerns. Throughout the past couple of weeks, Sheririon and I have spent a lot of time trying to sort out his circumstances. We have concluded that it is in his best interests for him to return to Tennessee."

Jones was a four-star recruit in Tennessee's 2015 class, and redshirted the 2015 season before initially deciding to transfer. While a reason for his decision to leave was never given, Jones was already behind Josh Dobbs and Quinten Dormady on the depth chart with the Vols. And then there's another four-star quarterback in Jarrett Guarantano in Tennessee's 2016 class, so the depth chart appears a bit cluttered over the next few seasons.

So if that was a major factor in Jones' initial decision to leave Knoxville, it certainly hasn't been resolved.
