The Big Ten era of Maryland football is still fairly new, but on Saturday the Terps proved that it does not take long to start building hate for new conference rivals.

Maryland and Penn State compete often in recruiting the mid-Atlantic, and given James Franklin's history with the program -- as a former offensive coordinator and coach in waiting under Ralph Friedgen -- this could be an entertaining rivalry to watch over the next few years.

Stefon Diggs, Sean Davis and P.J. Gallo issued the first serving of disrespect at the pregame coin toss, refusing to shake hands with the Penn State captains. Maryland was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct for the stunt, but it was not the only pregame activity between the two teams.

Maryland won the game, 20-19, after which Terps coach Randy Edsall offered an apology.
