USC's 2022 recruiting class picked up a huge addition on Friday when five-star cornerback Domani Jackson announced his commitment to the Trojans over Alabama and Michigan. Jackson is ranked the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite and considered the No. 2 cornerback in the class. Jackson is the highest-rated prospect in Lincoln Riley's inaugural class as the USC coach.

Landing Jackson is a huge get for the Trojans and new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, who followed Riley from Oklahoma. While the Trojans are expected to be an attractive destination for top offensive prospects because of Riley's offensive background, landing a commitment of Jackson's caliber on the defensive side is an early sign that what USC is selling could resonate with top defensive prospects as well.

Jackson was also a state championship-caliber sprinter at Mater Dei High School in the Los Angeles area, and that speed combines with a 6-foot-1 frame to create an intimidating matchup for opposing receivers. He projects as a potential future first-round NFL Draft pick, according to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins. Here is the full scouting report from Biggins, who compared Jackson to Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes:

Long well built corner with an NFL body right now. Is all of 6-1, 190 pounds with long arms and plays a physical game. Has tremendous straight line speed and has run in the low 10.5-100m range. Excels in press coverage and can bully opposing receivers at the line of scrimmage. Has the speed to turn and run with any receiver but needs to continue to improve his ball awareness and tracking the football. is very good in run support and will come up and unload on a running back or receiver. Can be a bit grabby at times and needs to improve on not trying to be overly physical in coverage down the field. Has improved his ball skills and could be a factor as a kick or punt returner in college.
