  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Season concludes

Grier (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Grier has not been active on game day since Week 8, with Cooper Rush occupying the backup role ahead of him. Even with Dallas hoping to make a deep postseason run, Grier's third season as a pro is over without him having recorded a statistic.

  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Inactive again

Grier (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Grier hasn't dressed for Dallas since Week 8, when top backup Cooper Rush made a spot start against the Vikings while Dak Prescott was sidelined with a calf injury. Expect Grier to remain a fixture on the inactive list the rest of the season so long as Prescott and Rush are both available on gamedays.

  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Logs full practice Wednesday

Grier (knee) was able to log a full practice for the Cowboys Wednesday.

Grier suffered a knee injury at practice before the Cowboys' Week 10 contest with the Falcons. The quarterback's status won't have much of an impact on the Cowboys' offense.

  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Inactive against Atlanta

Grier (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons.

Grier was limited in practice Friday due to a knee injury and he's been ruled out of this contest. However, his fantasy upside is almost non-existent as a third-string signal-caller and his absence won't affect any fantasy rosters.

  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Lands on injury report

Grier is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons due to a knee injury, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Grier popped up as a limited participant at Friday's practice due to a knee injury. It is unclear when the issue was sustained, but it presumably occurred at some point during the week. His status as the team's No. 3 quarterback will now depend on how he is feeling closer to kickoff.

  • Cowboys' Will Grier: Lands in Dallas behind Dak

The Cowboys claimed Grier off waivers Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Dallas is an excellent landing spot for Grier after he lost a backup quarterback battle to P.J. Walker in Carolina. The Cowboys kept Cooper Rush on the initial 53-man roster behind Dak Prescott, though multiple reporters suggested the team would look outside the organization for its in-season backup quarterback. While Grier won't automatically be the choice to fill that role, he should at least get a chance to compete in practice with Rush for No. 2 duties. The 2019 third-round pick is 26 years old.

  • Will Grier: Sent to waivers

The Panthers waived Grier on Tuesday, David Newton of reports.

Grier, a 2019 third-round pick, wasn't able to beat out P.J. Walker for the backup gig behind Sam Darnold. The 26-year-old is coming off back-to-back impressive preseason outings, so it may be that the Panthers are hoping to bring him back via the practice squad. Of course, another team could interrupt those plans by claiming Grier off waivers.

  • Panthers' Will Grier: Scores on ground

Grier completed five of seven passes for 47 yards and rushed three times for 22 yards and a touchdown in Friday night's 34-9 preseason win over the Steelers.

Grier played behind Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker, with the latter's 5-for-10 night for 83 passing yards most relevant as Grier competes to serve as the former's backup. Although his passing performance wasn't too different from Walker's, Grier surprised with a rare 24-yard touchdown scamper to begin the fourth quarter. After two straight impactful showings, it'll now be interesting to see whether Grier has done enough to unseat Walker for the No. 2 job ahead of Carolina's season opener against the Jets.

  • Panthers' Will Grier: Impresses in defeat

Grier completed 11 of 14 passes for 144 yards in Saturday's 20-3 preseason loss to the Ravens.

Grier started and played until the second drive of the second half, impressing with his performance along the way. Although Carolina managed just three points, Grier had a couple connections of over 25 yards to rookies Chuba Hubbard and Terrace Marshall. His efficient play contrasted teammate P.J. Walker's 1-for-8 passing outing, tightening the competition to serve as Sam Darnold's backup going into Friday's exhibition finale versus the Steelers.
