Chiefs' Jaydn Ott: Signs to active roster
The Chiefs signed Ott from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
The Chiefs placed Brashard Smith (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday in a corresponding move. Smith's injury leaves an opportunity for Ott. The undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma could make his NFL debut during Sunday Night Football as the Chiefs take on the Seahawks in Week 7.

Jaydn Ott: Signed to Kansas City's practice squad
The Chiefs signed Ott to the practice squad Monday.
Ott joined the Chiefs on May 1 as an undrafted free agent and played in all three of the team's preseason games. He was waived Sunday after failing to crack the 53-man roster, but Ott will stay in Kansas City on the practice squad. The Oklahoma product would be a top candidate for elevation to the active roster if the Chiefs require additional depth in the backfield.

Chiefs' Jaydn Ott: Headed to Kansas City
The Chiefs signed Ott as an undrafted free agent Friday.
Ott played three years at California before transferring to Oklahoma for his senior season. The running back suffered a shoulder issue entering the 2025 season that led to him seeing meaningful snaps in only two games. The Chiefs are likely taking a flyer on Ott due to his 2023 season at California, where he rushed 245 times for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns and added 26 receptions for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Ott's standout sophomore campaign suggests he has a shot to be a meaningful producer at the NFL level if he can avoid the injury bug.
