Spurs' Devin Vassell: Set to miss multiple games
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said prior to Wednesday's 134-132 win over the Knicks that Vassell's left adductor strain will keep him out for "more than a game or two," Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
San Antonio is still awaiting the results of additional tests on Vassell before a firmer prognosis is available, but based on Johnson's comments, the 25-year-old wing appears likely to remain out through at least the team's Friday/Saturday back-to-back set versus the Pacers and Trail Blazers, respectively. While Vassell was sidelined Wednesday, Julian Champagnie stepped into the starting five in his stead and erupted for 36 points (11-17 FG, 11-17 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and one block in 36 minutes. Reserve forward Keldon Johnson (19 points, eight rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes) also benefited from some extra run sans Vassell.

Vassell is out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks due to a left adductor strain, per Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio.
Vassell exited Monday's loss to Cleveland for undisclosed reasons before returning to the floor in the fourth quarter, though it appears he came away from the contest with an adductor injury. Given the tricky nature of the issue, it wouldn't be shocking if Vassell missed more time beyond Wednesday. Julian Champagnie stands out as the most likely option to jump into the starting lineup.

Despite a solid workload, Vassell wasn't very involved offensively. There's a lot of competition for touches in San Antonio, and Vassell is likely to be a volatile fantasy asset as a result. Vassell had been converting just 23.1 percent of his three-point attempts in the three games prior, so it was nice to see him get things back on track from distance in this one. He also tied his career-high in steals, and his aggression in the passing lanes helped the Spurs put an end to a two-game losing streak. He'll look to keep it going Saturday against the Pelicans.
