Jachai Polite: Clears COVID protocol
Polite (undisclosed) was restored to the Rams' practice squad Tuesday.
The 22-year-old was placed on the practice squad COVID-19 list earlier in December but has now cleared the league's protocols. Polite has four tackles and one sack in 11 games for the Rams this season, though for now he remains on the practice squad.

The Rams placed Polite on the practice squad COVID-19 list Saturday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Polite either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person. He'll need to clear the league's COVID-19 protocols before returning to the Rams' facilities.

Jachai Polite: Cut by Rams
The Rams waived Polite on Thursday.
Polite saw action in all 12 games with the Rams this season, seeing most of his action on special teams and supplying four tackles (three solo) over that span. The Florida product will look to latch on elsewhere to earn a depth role at linebacker.

Polite's outlook has been declining since he injured his hamstring at the 2019 NFL Combine. The third-round rookie, who was at one point one of the most promising players in his draft class, will be cut before playing a regular season game. Given his potential, other NFL teams very well could take a chance on Polite.

Polite dealt with a hamstring injury during the combine and aggravated it at his pro day, but he now appears to have gotten fully healthy. The third-round rookie is competing to carve out a rotational role behind Brandon Copeland in New York's defensive front.

The Jets selected Polite (hamstring) in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 68th overall.
New York continues to bolster its defensive front through the draft after getting Quinnen Williams with the third overall pick. Polite adds a pure pass-rushing presence off the edge. He fell to this point after a shaky combine that was lowlighted by a hamstring injury that he aggravated at his pro day. Still, there's plenty of upside to Polite's game. He showed explosiveness off the edge at Florida and is still young, having just turned 21 years old in March.
