Steelers' Calvin Austin: Listed as DNP again
Austin (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Austin has now missed back-to-back practices to begin Week 17 prep, making it safe to say that he's trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's road matchup against the Browns. The starting wideout is dealing with a hamstring injury sustained Week 16 against the Lions. With DK Metcalf (suspension) already out for Pittsburgh's final two games of the regular season, it's possible that Adam Thielen, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek and Roman Wilson will have to serve as the Steelers' top wideouts versus Cleveland in Week 17.

Steelers' Calvin Austin: DNP to open Week 17 prep
Austin (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Austin injured his hamstring during the Steelers' Week 16 win over the Lions and was not cleared to return. The fourth-year wideout has worked in more of a rotational role at wide receiver over the past three weeks, but his absence would be detrimental to a Steelers offense that is already without DK Metcalf (suspension) for the final two games of the regular season. Austin will have two more opportunities to return to practice ahead of Sunday's AFC North tilt against the Browns.

Austin (hamstring) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions, Burt Lauten of the Steelers' official site reports.
Austin exited the game in the fourth quarter after sustaining the injury. The wide receiver caught his sole target for an eight-yard gain before his exit.

Austin failed to reel in his only target and recorded nine yards on three punt returns during Monday's 28-15 win over the Dolphins.
Austin was limited by a calf injury at practice late in the week, but he ultimately was able to play, failing to reel in a pass for the second time in three weeks. With the additions of Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in recent weeks, Austin's role on the offense has taken a hit, and he now has caught just one of five targets for 31 yards over the last three games.

Austin was added to the injury report Friday, when he logged a limited practice session due to a calf issue. However, he was able to return to full participation Saturday and is clear to play on Monday Night Football. Austin has seen his offensive snap count trending down in recent weeks -- he hasn't been above 50 percent since Week 10 against the Chargers -- but he still figures to have a tangible role in the passing game while also working as Pittsburgh's primary punt returner.

Austin secured one of two targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 27-22 win over the Ravens.
Austin was held without a catch last week against Buffalo for the first time in the 2025 campaign, but he bounced back in Week 14 by logging a deep reception in the third quarter. The 2022 fourth-rounder has been inconsistent this year, but he's recorded double-digit receiving yards in five of his last seven appearances, securing 17 of 19 targets for 170 yards during that time. Austin hasn't found his way into the end zone since Week 3, however.

Austin had played at least 50 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps in his first seven appearances of the season, but he was on the field for just 29 percent during Sunday's comfortable victory. Austin tied DK Metcalf for the team lead in targets, also his highest mark of the season. However, the results didn't follow in a poor offensive showing from the Steelers. Austin had miscues of his own, including a dropped pass that was intercepted midway through the fourth quarter. Austin has earned at least six targets in each of three games since returning from a shoulder injury, though he has only 98 total yards in that span.
