Kolarek elected free agency Tuesday.
Kolarek cleared waivers after the Mets designated him for assignment over the weekend, but he'll pursue his options on the open market rather than reporting to Triple-A Syracuse. The left-handed reliever tossed 4.2 scoreless innings for the Mets prior to being DFA'd.
