Sweet was claimed off waivers by the Athletics on Saturday.
The 26-year-old reliever put up impressive numbers at Double-A (1.54 ERA) and Triple-A (2.57 ERA), but he gave up two runs in two innings over two appearances with the Mariners before they designated him for assignment Thursday.
