Braves' Phillip Ervin: Designated for assignment

Ervin was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Saturday.

Ervin was claimed off waivers by Atlanta prior to spring training and hit .276 with two RBI and one stolen base in 18 spring games this year. However, he was unable to secure a spot on the Opening Day roster and could have to settle for a minor-league role to begin the regular season.
