Cubs' Chris Gimenez: Outrighted to Triple-A

Gimenez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

He was designated for assignment earlier in the week and will officially head to Triple-A to serve as organizational depth. Gimenez hit .143/.219/.143 with zero home runs in 32 plate appearances for the Cubs this year.
