Indians' Jon Edwards: Optioned by Cleveland

Edwards was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.

Edwards was removed from the roster to open up a spot for fellow pitcher Mike Clevinger. Edwards has had good results at the big-league level this season, giving up just two earned runs over eight innings (2.25 ERA), so the Indians figure to consider him next time they need to bring up a reliever from the minors.
