Mets' Locke St. John: Scooped up by Mets

The Mets claimed St. John off waivers from the Cubs on Tuesday.

New York cleared a spot for St. John on the 40-man roster by transferring Jacob deGrom (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL. Before he was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on May 1, St. John made one two-inning appearance out of the Cubs' bullpen, striking out four while giving up three earned runs on three hits. He's expected to join the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
