Mike Montgomery: Granted release

Montgomery was granted his release by the Yankees on Tuesday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports.

As expected, Montgomery will opt out of his minor-league deal with the Yankees after he failed to secure a spot on the major-league roster to begin the year. The southpaw is expected to sign a contract with the Samsung Lions of the KBO.
