Padres' Trayce Thompson: Joins San Diego

Thompson signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Sunday that includes an invite to big-league camp.

Thompson parted ways with the Cubs after being outrighted off the 40-man roster in November, and he'll join the Padres during spring training. He posted a 1.114 OPS with four homers in 15 games for Chicago last season but is unlikely to be in the mix for a spot on San Diego's Opening Day roster.
