Beltre said Friday that his calf muscle is about 85 percent healed and he is hopeful about joining Team Dominican Republic for the WBC, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

It appears Beltre is on the mend after recovering from the Grade 1 calf strain he suffered back in mid-February. The fact that he is optimistic about playing in the WBC is a good sign for him being ready to go for the regular season. At 37 years old, the Rangers will be hoping his body can continue to hold up in his 20th season.
