Taveras and the Rangers agreed on a one-year, $2.55 million deal Thursday, avoiding arbitration, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Taveras provides strong defense in center field and was almost a league average hitter (98 wRC+) in his age-24 season. He projects to once again hit double-digit homers with double-digit steals while hitting towards the bottom of the Rangers' lineup.
